I know this is a little late but I had a game I had to go to on Friday so this poem is in remembrance of 9/11, and the people that died.

Our memory

Holds more than you think

Long term

Short term

The 'forgotten' words you can remember

Books we've read

Movies we've seen

Homework we've done

But the thing we remember most

Is anger

And pain

And hurt

And sadness

You'll have happy memories, yes.

But most of the time anger consumes happiness

That one day is one we'll never forget

A day in history that our country was wounded

Stabbed in the heart

It healed

But only barely

It's just like

When someone close to you dies

And every year it comes to the day they died

You revisit it every year

Opening up old wounds

That's what we do

But sometimes it's needed

To make sure that we're okay

That we won't fall down again

That day was the day our country fell

They broke us

People died

People got injured

People got scarred by what they saw

Sadness

Anger

Hurt

All things that people felt that one day

How could two planes do such harm to our country

Well we've recovered and never again will our walls fall

Our memory can hold more detail

Than you might think

Describing the incident

Would be like you're really there

Wounded

Is what our country was when the world stopped turning
