Four ➵ Meeting The Girlfriend

A week passes and it's eventually time for the long anticipated road trip. I'm currently packing the rest of my bag beside Dino as we both wait for S.coups to pick us up in the mini van.

"Are you looking forward to meeting Vernon's girlfriend?" Dino asks quietly as he folds his clothes.

"Sort of. I just hope she's nice to him."

"You can tell me, you know, if you feel jealous."

I laugh. "I'm not jealous. He's my best friend, I don't see him in that way."

Before Dino can respond, a car horn echoes from outside.

"They're here." Dino says and zips up his bag.

I follow him outside and jump into the mini van, greeting the boys that are there. Only Woozi, Mingyu, Hoshi and Joshua are inside so far and I'm assume we're picking the other boys up on the way.

"Jeonghan, Jun and Wonwoo are at the flat with Minghao, Seungkwan and DK. Vernon and his girlfriend are meeting us at the beach." S.coups informs us and I nod.

We arrive at the flat and S.coups, the driver, beeps the horn and immediately, the six boys come running out with their bags. They throw them in the trunk before jumping into the seats next to us and I somehow end up sitting at the back next to Wonwoo.

"Hey, Areum." He grins as if we didn't share a bed a week ago.

"Hey."

Half an hour through the two hour journey, S.coups turns up the radio loudly and everyone starts singing. I immediately recognise the song as it's their own debut track, Adore U.

naega marya!" We all sing loudly in unison.

"You're too cute," Wonwoo says and ruffles my hair causing me to simultaneously laugh and blush. "Ecspecially when you blush."

"Stop it." I mumble and cover my face with my hands.

Wonwoo looks tired and I notice his eyes slowly flutter shut. His head falls and lands softly onto my shoulder when he drifts asleep and begins to snore quietly.

"Aw," Hoshi coos, "Wonwoo is asleep on Areum!"

Dino immediately rotates in his seat and glares at him.

"They look like a couple!" Mingyu squeals and I shake my head.

"He's three years older than me!"

Wonwoo mumbles incoherently in his sleep and fidgets, and I unexpectedly feel him grab my hand and squeeze it. Luckily, the seats are covering our hands so the boys can't see.

"If they were the same age, though." Woozi says to Dino who looks evidently angry.

I try to ignore the feeling of his hand in mine as the boys argue. I know he's asleep so he doesn't know what he's doing but the contact still makes my stomach flutter.

"We're here!" S.coups calls when the van pulls up outside of the beach.

I gently prod Wonwoo's back until he slowly wakes up, confused.

"We're here." I tell him.

"Oh." He mumbles tiredly and runs his hands through his tousled hair. He looks so unbelievably cute.

"We're at the beach!" Woozi shouts and yanks the door open before running outside.

We all quickly follow closely behind him and run on the sand, the feeling being foreign to us. We kick off our shoes and run towards the sea laughing.

I'm thankful I decided to wear shorts as I can run straight into the cold water. I shiver at the temperature but run further in anyway. I feel cold droplets hit the bottom of my back through my t-shirt, and when I turn around I see a mischievous Jun with a grin on his face.

"You!" I shriek and splash him back.

The other boys see and run towards us, joining in with the mini water fight.

"Save me, Wonwoo!" I laugh and run behind him when Woozi chases me with water in his hands.

"I'll protect you, Areum." He laughs and splashes the shorter boy with water.

"Look, I think Vernon and his girlfriend are here." Seungkwan says and points to a silver car pulling up beside our van.

We slowly walk out of the water and towards the car but when I see who steps out of it, I freeze. Vernon's girlfriend is my bully, Kim Eui.

"No." I whisper and stop in my tracks. Wonwoo notices and turns around, frowning.

"Areum, are you OK?"

"Kim Eui." I say quietly with tears in my eyes.

"You know her? What's wrong?"

"She bu-"

"Areum!" I hear her shrill voice call, interrupting my words. She runs towards me with a fake, plastered smile on her flawless, porcelain-like face. "I didn't know you'd be here!"

"Oh, you know each other?" Vernon says, approaching us.

"Yeah, Areum and I go to the same school. We're quite close, actually."

"I never knew." Vernon grins, looking ecstatic at the thought of his best friend and girlfriend being close.

FLASHBACK

"Nerd." Eui laughs and pushes me roughly into a nearby locker.

"What do you want?" I groan in pain.

"I want you to set Jun and I up on a date."

"I'm not going to do that." I warn and she slaps me harshly.

"Fine, I will get my revenge someday. If not through Jun, then someone else you love."

END OF FLASHBACK

Hansol. She's using Hansol to get her revenge on me.

"Come on, guys. We're going swimming!" Woozi shouts and I look down sheepishly.

"I'm going to the van, I'm not feeling too good." I say quietly to Dino and he frowns.

"What's wrong?"

"Headache, that's all." I lie.

"Okay, I'll check up on you soon."

I nod and ignore everyone's calls as I walk back to the vehicle with tears running down my cheeks. I slam the door shut and sit at the back with my head in my hands. This weekend was supposed to be the best few days of my life but Kim Eui is inevitably going to spoil the experience for me.

"Areum?"

"Go away, Dino." I mumble but when I look up its not him.

It's Wonwoo.
