Thirty One ➵ Fake Relationship

"So how was the date?" I ask Dino and I watch as his cheeks slowly redden.

"It was good."

"I need details." I laugh.

"She's called Jasmine and she's sixteen. She's half British."

I nod. "I need to meet her."

"She's coming over on Wednesday. You can see her then."

"I can't wait." I grin and he looks down at his phone again, probably texting Jasmine.

I haven't seen Kim Eui in over a week after I bumped into her at the store. The messages haven't stopped though, I still receive them daily.

I sigh and unlock my phone, ignoring the message from Eui and clicking onto Joshua's contact.

It rings for a while before going to his voicemail and I sigh. He's probably at the studios practicing again.

Last week, the boys were told that they're going to have a comeback in three months time. Ever since, Joshua has been at the studios every day for hours and hours, and he barely had time to spend with me.

I decide to go to the studios to surprise him. He needs a break, after all.

"Mum, can you drive me to the studio please?" I ask and she nods.

"Are you going to see Joshua?" She asks.

"Yeah."

"Okay, sweetie. Just grab a coat and I'll meet you in the car."

I thank her and grab my coat before walking to the car. After a minute or so she exits the house and joins me in the driver's seat.

"I haven't seen Jisoo in a few days. Where has he been?" She asks as she starts the engine and begins the short journey.

"He's been at the studios practicing for the comeback almost everyday." I tell her sadly.

"Ah, his work is very important to him. I suggest you don't take your frustration out on him, he's probably stressed."

I sigh knowing that she's right. "I know. It just gets annoying sometimes."

"I know, sweetie. Your dad used to come home from work at night and leave early in the morning, I barely ever saw him but his job was what put the food on the table at the end of the day."

"Thanks for the advice." I smile appreciatively as we pull up outside of the company building.

I say goodbye and hug her quickly before climbing out of the car. The man at the reception desk recognises me and let's me inside straight away.

I wander the corridors until I come across the dance studio. I quietly open the door and peer inside, only to see that he's not there.

I frown and shut the door again, walking through the corridors once more. As I'm approaching the end of the long corridor, I begin to hear voices which I discreetly follow.

"I refuse!" Are the first words I hear, the voice undeniably belonging to Joshua.

I move forward and see Joshua standing by a short girl in front of a large desk inside a small room. I frown and peer through the glass, trying to hear their conversation.

"It will bring a great amount of publicity for our company. Unfortunately, this isn't optional."

What are they talking about?

"But, sir," The girl's voice speaks. "I have a boyfriend."

My eyes widen, they're talking about relationships?

"I'm sorry but there's no option. In order to promote GFS' new album, you will need a great amount of publicity. This is the perfect way to do so."

"Why me?" Joshua asks. "I have a girlfriend."

My heart stops. What are they talking about?

"Lee Areum?" The man behind the desk asks I gasp. "We've already spoken to you about your relationship with that girl."

"What are you going to do?" Joshua resorts. "Kick me out of Seventeen?"

"Of course not.." The man sighs. "But your cooperation is essential, Joshua."

"I refuse. I'm not doing it."

"It's only for a few months. When the time is right, we can stage a breakup."

"Why would we even pretend to date? This just makes no sense." The girl sighs and my heart stops.

They need to fake date?

"Please-"

"No, let me finish," The girl snaps. "If GFS is going to be a successful new girl group, then our success should come from our talent and not from our relationship statuses! If our debut isn't a success then I'll possibly consider it, but not with a boy who already has a girlfriend! It's not fair on her."

Whoever she is, I like her.

I can't see her face because they're both turned around, but I can practically see the anger on their faces.

"We're going to release to the public that you're dating next week. I want you two to go on a date together, fake or not, for the first set of paparazzi photos. We'll arrange it all for you, don't worry."

"This is ridiculous." I hear Joshua mutter under his breath.

"I can't believe this." The girl sighs.

"Joshua, Jasmine, from now on you're a couple whether you like it or not. Publicity is important."

Jasmine? That name sounds oddly familiar.

Then it hits me.

Dino. Dino's girlfriend is called Jasmine. No, this can't be happening.

My boyfriend is being forced to date my brother's new girlfriend.
