Chapter 8: The Past

Your P.O.V.:
For a while, everything was dark for you. There was nothing to see, no sounds to hear, nothing that you could smell.
You thought that you'd been sentenced to a life of hell in an eternal darkness, left with nothing to roam besides the inside of your eyelids. It could have been a few hours you had been there, or maybe even days. Even so, you never wanted to go back.
There was no one to interact with, no mouth to talk to yourself with, just utter blackness.
You felt no need to eat due to no direct signs of hunger, and you never got tired so you never slept.
It was like your soul was left in a dark empty closet, just to sit there in case anyone decided to come and find you.
And suddenly, there was a light. You couldn't explain when or how it was happening, but you honestly didn't care. You were finally getting out of that damned dark hole.
You began to feel your body form again, feeling your limbs, fingers, toes, everything. Even your senses had returned.
You reached your arm out towards the light, which seemed to be eons of time away from you.
But you didn't care what it took. No matter what, you were getting out of there.
You extended your arm out further, ignoring the tingling in your nerves that were greeting each other for the first time in a long time.
Out of nowhere, a sleeved arm latched onto you, yanking you out of the darkness and into the light.
It was as if you had blacked out from that point, the next thing you knew, you were standing beside a beautiful river sitting in the middle of what seemed to be a forest.
You looked around cautiously, your toes wiggling around in the grass as you began to get used to your senses once again.
You inhaled through your nose sharply, taking in the smell of cherry blossoms.
"Mm... Smells nice.." You muttered, immediately slapping a palm to your mouth as soon as the words came out.
You were surprised to hear your own voice. It'd been a long time since you'd heard anything really.
"There's no need to be shy, (Y/n)!" A male voice chimed.
Your eyes lit up as you turned to see people, real actual people, standing right before you.
"(Y-N..?)" You spoke once again, still not used to the sound of your own voice.
"Yup! Thats your name! (Y/n) as a person and (S/n) as a weapon." The man spoke happily, his crystal blue eyes giving out his welcome.
"Weapon..? What?" You asked, confused about what he was referring to.
"I'll explain it later. In the mean time, we'll introduce ourselves! I'm Yato, the god of calamity and your master. And this is Yukine, my lead regalia!" The navy haired boy exclaimed.
You hadn't even noticed the boy standing next to him. He seemed to be a little younger than the sky-eyed man.
He had blonde hair, identical to the pigment of sunflower petals, and eyes that reminded you of a morning sunrise.
He looked directly at you, his mouth hanging open a bit as a light blush began to form on his cheeks.
Your admiration of him was interrupted by the one called Yato slapping the blonde harshly on the back of his head.
"Ow! Watch it sweaty god!" He yelled at Yato angrily, rubbing the back of his head softly.
"Stop gawking, Yukine! Say hello to her!" Yato scolded the boy.
Yukine gulped, obeying his master's orders.
He walked over to you, reaching his hand out to you hesitantly.
"H-hi. I'm Yukine.. its nice to meet you."
You stared at his hand cautiously before slowly folding your own palm into his and shaking it.
"Its nice to meet you too." You said with a nervous smile.
"Y'know, Yukine.. if you think she's pretty you should just tell her. You gotta learn to deal with girls some day." Yato said with a devilish smirk, as Yukine's entire face lit up with a blush like a Christmas tree.
"S-shut the hell up!" He growled, going to attack his master.
You blushed too, knowing that the boy you'd only just met thought you were cute.
You only had one question though. How did Yato know that?
Reading the confusion on your face, Yato spoke, beginning to walk away from the fresh river.
"It'll all make sense later..."
You responded with a shy nod.
But suddenly you remembered, this man was the reason why you were no longer in the dark. You felt as if you owed him your life.
You tugged on the sleeve of his jersey, as he responded tilting his head towards you.
"I don't really know whats going on or how I got here.. but I wanna thank you. You.. you saved me." You said shyly, looking at the ground.
It was silent for a bit, before you heard a slight chuckle from him.
"Its no big deal. I'm sure you have a lot of questions right? And there's a lot more people that we want you to meet, so just forget everything that happened before now ok?" Yato reassured you, fiddling with a 5 yen coin.
You looked at the two. Both had a trusting look plastered upon their faces, their eyes inviting you to follow along with them.
After all, there wasn't much of the past for you to forget.
"You coming?" Yukine asked hesitantly, beginning to meander away from the river.
You nodded, following the two hurriedly.
It was mostly a silent walk, as you were still getting used to your body and your senses again and admiring your surroundings.
As you watched the boys walk casually in front of you, you couldn't help but think:' Why in the world would he choose me as his regalia?'
As if reading your mind, Yato began to speak again, answering your question.
"Y'know (Y/n) I got quite a catch when I found you. I never knew I'd be so knifty in archery." Yato said, crossing his arms behind his head.
"Is that what type of weapon I am? A bow and arrow?" You asked to which he responded with a quick nod.
It became silent again, as you all became tied up in your own thougts. But suddenly, Yato began to speak again, his tone playing off your eardrums in a sarcastic manner.
"I'm calling it now, you guys are gonna be dating in less than a few months."
"WHAT?!"

-present time-
It was dark again. Nothing to smell, nothing to hear, nothing to see. Though the difference was that you could actually feel your body this time.
You felt insanely fatigued, as if every part of your body was pulling you down into slumber even though your eyes were wide open.
"H-hello?" You called out. It was to no avail though. Your voice didn't echo, nor was there any response from anyone.
It was just like 1 year ago, and you were desperate to leave.
"Can anyone hear me?! Please, let me out!" You shouted, your throat sore from carrying the demanding duties of your voice.
Still, there was no reply, only thin silence. You attempted to move, feeling all of your limbs. They were all quite numb, except for your leg which was still sore from healing its wound.
You grunted, as hot tears cascaded down your cheeks.
God, you hated this feeling. Being in stuck in a nightmare, with nothing to do or anything to look forward to. You hated being reminded of it.
You reached your hand out into the darkness, hoping that Yato would pull you out just as he did when he'd first met you.
You reached out further, beginning to give up hope.
Until a green sleeved arm reached out, latching onto your wrist.
"Yukine?" You called, you lips stretching into a smile. You were pulled closer and closer, until you saw the faint glow of violet eyes illuminating the darkness.
You immediately frowned, pulling your arm away as you backed into the corner you were previously just in.
"G-get away from me!" You screamed, balling yourself up.
You heard an evil cackle, its noise spiraling down your spine.
"Aww I'm sorry. Did I scare you?"
Medusa asked you coldly, as you heard her high-heeled boots clicking against the ground.
"Where are we?" You continued to ask questions, hoping that Medusa would comply and answer one of them.
"I'm afraid I can't tell you that information my dear." She said, as her bright violet orbs stood nose length away from you.
You could feel her chilling breaths brushing against your nose causing you to shiver.
"But I can tell you, that I admire you greatly." She whispered. You could almost hear the sly grin in her voice, as you creased your eyebrows.
"W-what the hell are you talking about?" You asked nervously, attempting the scoot away from her.
"At first, I wanted you and the boy to die so Yato could feel what I once felt hundreds of years ago. But then I realized.."
She paused, her soft breaths the only sound detectable between the two of you.
"It'd be such a waste to kill a regalia of your talents. I figured it would be much better to just turn you against him and make you my regalia."
Your eyes widened in shock.
"I'd never turn against Yato! I will serve him until the day I die!" You spat in her face, as her eyes rolled at your retort.
"I figured you'd say that. And then I thought, maybe I'll just turn you into a nora." Her voice laced delicately around the word 'nora'.
Your heart seized at the mention of that word, as your heart began to beat against your rib cage.
"Y-you can't do that to me! I won't let you!" Her eyes lowered slowly, as she muttered "Watch me."
"Sohe! Prepare everything for the naming. You're going to have a little regalia sister soon." Medusa said lifelessly, as she turned and walked away from you.
"YOU CAN'T DO THIS! I WON'T LET YOU!" You screamed fraily, your throat succumbing to pain.
You sobbed harshly, trying to escape your prolonged fate. But you were unable to, due to the fact that there was a metal restraint enclosed around your ankle.
You collapsed on the cool concrete in defeat, your tears creating rivers on the ground.
Right now, you would give anything for someone to come and save you. Because Medusa had done exactly what she'd promised. She'd become your worst nightmare.

Whew! That was a really long chapter! But I like how it turned out! You guys finally figured out how you were able to meet Yukine and Yato, but you also figured out Medusa's true intentions for you! Lots of drama lol. Anyways guys, the update for next Friday will be postponed until the Saturday after that due to the fact that I am celebrating my birthday that day, and I'll be busy with my party, but expect an update to come out that Saturday morning!
(My birthday is on September 24th. Make sure to send me bday wishes! It would make me uber happy!!!) Also I found out that Noragami Aragato (season 2) is coming out on October 3rd instead of September 25th. That makes me uber sad because it would have made for a nice bday present considering Noragami is my fave anime. But oh well. Thats still really close.
