Jamie's POV
"Get up to much yesterday?" Emma questioned as she ran her hands along a row of dresses in the upmarket clothes shop that we had been wandering in for at least half an hour.
She had invited her close friend Isabelle and I to go dress shopping for what to wear to her party this Friday, and of course me being such a 'people-pleaser', I naturally agreed and said yes to coming.
If only I could tell her what happened yesterday- but of course I couldn't. That would seriously kill me if I did, and I didn't want it to look like I was conflicting with her and Ethan's relationship which I obviously wasn't.
He hadn't mentioned anything to Emma about our past relationship, so I assumed he probably didn't want me to say anything about it.
I still wasn't entirely sure where I stood with Ethan after yesterday. Like I think he still hated me, but I really didn't know since I couldn't really pick up his mix of vibes?
When we were both talking yesterday I had kind of tuned in and out of the conversation not really paying attention to his words, but was more constantly thinking how 'weird' it felt to actually be with him again.
He seemed to act really frantic and nervous just before I left, and because I was so dazed and completely out of it, I wondered what he had said that had made him get so worked up.
That still didn't change the fact that I was still mad at him for not opening up and telling me why he had ignored me. If only I knew what was going on in his mind...
"Jamie?" Emma looked at me oddly.
"W-what?" I stuttered.
"Wow you're really not with it today." She continued to stare at me, lifting an eyebrow as she said the words.
I gave an awkward laugh as I turned slightly away, "Mmm yeah, just a bit tired that's all."
"Well I'm going to try this dress on." Emma pulled a bright, long, hot pink dress of the rack and disappeared off into the change rooms.
I flicked through the rack of dresses that Emma had just been rummaging through and immediately gasped once I saw the prices. Each individual dress was so insanely expensive I had no idea how she was even going to afford it.
Isabelle came over and by the slightly amused expression that passed over her, I think she must of been laughing at the expression on my face.
"Don't worry, I can't afford any of these dresses either." She smiled gently, while letting out a small laugh.
"Is Emma seriously considering buying one of these?" I asked Isabelle as we sat on a lounge outside the dressing rooms, waiting for Emma to come back out again.
"Well she can basically but anything because her family is loaded." Isabelle explained, talking with her head down as she spoke. I almost detected a sense of slight jealousy and bitterness as she spoke, but she seemed to rub it off as she lifted her head back up once again to look at me.
"Oh right." I nodded, still feeling that so out of place and wondering why Emma had even invited me to come shopping in the first place since I still didn't even know a single thing about her.
"Perks of being rich." Isabelle said jokingly. I smiled back at her as we lapsed into silence.
About a minute later Emma came out of the dressing room looking both hot and flustered. "I can't find anything to wear." She sighed, placing the delicate looking dress back on the rack.
