Jakob's POV

Chris and Ethan seemed to be having an interesting conversation. I think it revolved around Jamie, but I wasn't too sure. It wasn't really my business to be listening, but I did anyway.

"Why were you sitting with her in class?" Ethan asked, sounding quite aggravated.

I was assuming 'her' meant Jamie.

"Am I not allowed to sit with other people?" Chris asked back, trying to look as innocent as possible. I awkwardly walked behind the two of them as we headed in the direction of our next class.

"I meant Jamie." Ethan shot back.

"What's your problem with Jamie?" Chris challenged.

"There's not a problem! I just-"

"I think you're the problem Ethan, not Jamie. You're the one causing problems that aren't even there." Chris cut him off, as his slow walk turned to a quicker pace.

Ethan looked quite taken aback. I had to agree with Chris though. Ethan was being a slight asshole towards Jamie without any explanation to us, or to her as why he was acting that way.

"You don't get it Chris." Ethan growled back at Chris as he caught up to him. I continued to walk behind them to hear how this argument was going to end... Well hopefully it would.

"What don't I get!?" Chris exclaimed to prove his point. He wasn't normally your typical person to get into fights. He had a mostly chilled and laid back attitude, likewise to Ethan.

I really was hoping that this wouldn't get out of hand, because I didn't want to be the last-man standing in the band.

"You don't know how complicated this is." Ethan said quietly as he gazed off into the distance.

"Right of course." Chris rolled his eyes, as he pushed past Ethan to get to class.

I tried to take in the short series of events that had just happened, but nothing seemed to be making sense. I felt so left out of this situation that I had no idea of what was actually going on.

"Jake, what am I doing wrong?" Ethan turned to me suddenly, looking upset.

I wasn't normally the person who was your go to with advice, but I tried to be as helpful as I could. "I think he just doesn't get why you're not talking to Jamie since she just wants to speak to you and all."

"You wanna know the real reason why?" Ethan directly asked me.

"Yeah why?"

Ethan looked up for a second to meet my eyes, but something was fighting him from moving his lips and uttering out even just a single word; Something was holding him back.

"Forget it." He snapped, as we walked in the door of the classroom.

Okay? I thought to myself. Ethan seemed to have almost cracked with whatever this thing was to do with Jamie, but he'd stopped himself like he was about to reveal information that could kill him.

Moving on from that, whatever happened between Chris and Ethan seemed to be resolved at lunch. I knew that they wouldn't be able to stay mad at each other for long. Even Ethan seemed to have perked up with me as well.
