Avery POV

I open my eyes, and sit up, looking over at Ethan, who was sitting in his bed reading. I blink, confused, and he speaks first.

“What’s wrong?” He asks.

“That didn’t happen?” I ask him.

“What didn’t happen?” He says, concerned.

“Nothing, I just has really weird dream. You woke me up, took me to go get a schedule for classes and everything and it was just weird. We got in a fight, and I told off an emergency room doctor,” I say.

“Oh, no, none of that happened. We don’t have classes here. Once school work starts getting sent here, you get a tutor to help you complete your work, and we have counseling sessions, but we basically have the rest of the day to hang out wherever on the floor our little hearts desire,” He says.

“Oh, okay. Whatcha reading?” I ask as I get up from my bed and sit myself cross legged in front of Ethan on his.

“This book by John Green, its pretty good,” He replies, marking his page and handing me over a blue covered book. I flip it over and then start reading the back.

“They have another copy of this in the rec room if you want,” He offers.

“Sure, I’ve been asleep for a while, a walk would do me good,” I smile.

We walk out of the room and he leads me to the back of the rec room, where a wall of books stood before me. I pull out the blue book as soon as I saw it, and flip to the first page and start reading a little. I read the first two pages, and deciding I want to take it, I look up towards Ethan, who was watching me intently.

“What?” He asks, tilting his head, as I stare at him.

“Don’t move,” I say, not thinking, and he blinks once, before I lean my head in and put my lips on his.

After I realize what I’m doing, I pull away slowly, and quickly run out of my chair back to my room.

Ethan POV

“Don’t move,” Avery says softly, and I blink, as she leans in and presses her lips to mine. I kiss her back slightly, and after a couple seconds she pulls away, and races out of the room.

What?

Avery POV

I slide into the room and around the corner, and I move my back down the all until I’m sitting on the floor. A few minutes after I sat silently shaking on the floor, a pair of feet step into the room and fall in front of me.

“Avery,” Ethan’s voice says, normal and steady.

I don’t look up.

“Ave,” He tries again, this time whispering, nervousness laced in his tone.

He crouches down in front of my knees, which were pulled up protectively to my chest. My eyes flicked up for a second, before I dart them back down to look at my shaking hands that were hiding behind my legs.

“Ave,” He whispers again, while grabbing my shaking hands and pulling them away from me. I keep a straight look at my knees, and Ethan releases one of his hands to place on my chin and tilt my face upwards. I look at him, searching his face for something, but I get nothing in return. He starts to pull me to my feet, and I reluctantly lift myself from the ground, back still to the wall.

“Its okay, Avery. Don’t be scared,” He tells me, and I look away, still ashamed of what I did.

“What happened?” He asks carefully, his hands still holding onto mine.

“Nothing. I’m sorry,” I whisper.

“Don’t be sorry. And it wasn’t nothing, Ave. Please tell me?” He begs softly.

“I’ve just, never kissed anyone before,” I admit sheepishly.

Ethan POV

“I’ve never kissed anyone before,” She says quietly.

I don’t blink, or let any shock cross my face. Instead, I pull my hands from hers, and place them gingerly on her hips. She’s pressed up against the wall, and I pull her into me, and I firmly press my lips onto hers. She kisses me back with such passion that I have to grip her tightly to steady myself so that I don’t fall over into her. She wraps her arms around my neck, and I kiss her even more, pushing her to the wall slightly. I leave her lips for a second to plant a trail of soft kisses down her jawline and onto her neck, and she squirms and giggles. I trace my path back, and I smile on her lips before continuing to kiss her. I pull away after a minute, and she rests her head on my shoulder. I pull my arms around her waist and pull her into me, holding her as close as I can.

“I’m not going to just kiss you and leave. I’m not going to hurt you,” I say, my mouth hidden on her shoulder.

“Okay,” She whispers, nose pressed to my chest.

I rock her side to side for a minute, and she buries her head into my shoulder more. Suddenly, I feel a tear hit my chest, and I pull Avery away so I can look at her. Her eyes are swollen with tears, and one barely passes over her eyelid before spilling onto the floor.

“Ave, what’s wrong?” I panic.

“Nothing, nothing, you’re just saying all these wonderful things and it means a lot to me. Nobody has ever acted like this to me, its just different. I’m fine, I swear,” She sniffles.

I pull her into me again, one hand on her head, pressing her to me, and the other running up and down her back.

“Hey, it’s okay, shh, it’s alright,” I say, pressing a soft kiss to her temple.

We stand like that for another minute, and then my hands leave her back and I bend down and scoop her up by the legs. She instinctively wraps her arms around my neck, and she hides her face in my shoulder. I walk across the room and over to my bed and I set her down softly before taking her blanket from her bed and tucking it around her, and then I slide off my shoes and climb into bed after her. I pull myself under her blanket and and I wrap my arm around her small waist, and I tug her curled up body towards mine. She sniffles again, and I rest my head on her shoulder.

“Take a nap, I’ll be here when you wake up, okay?” I say, coaxing her eyelids shut,

“Okay,” She whispers, and I hug her tightly, and she drifts off to sleep.

I am SO sorry about the slow updates, I hope this makes up for it because I'm getting abck on track! c:
