Two Years Later-
After Avery's death, Ethan never fully accepted the love of his life was gone. Shortly after Avery's funeral, Ethan was admitted back into Belleview following a psychotic episode, and spent a few months in and out of treatment before being sent to a long term treatment facility in Kansas that specializes in cases where mental disorders had manifested following trauma or loss. He lost contact with Avery's family, who have been trying to stay updated on his progress ever since. Avery's family moved to Colorado about a year following Avery's funeral for a fresh start after Aiden, Avery's little brother started having grand mal seizures, and required the use of medicinal marijuana to stop his seizures all together. Aiden is doing well. Carter Jr went off to join the Army after graduation, and is currently serving in Germany. Susanna and Carter Sr have put their focus into working on legalizing medicinal marijuana cross country, as well as speaking publically about eating disorders to young teenagers. Avery watches Ethan from wherever she is; hoping that their story won't completely end in a hospital.
