Chapter 1

"Munro Wilde to the office, please," the PA system announced in the middle of my algebra class. "Munro Wilde to the office."

Without getting the okay from my teacher, I grabbed my bag and left the class, heading towards the office. I knew exactly was it was about and quite frankly, I didn't care. My biology class needed a bit of fun. It was only a bonus that it got the whole class out of a test.

When I got to the office, I sat on the chair that the staff claimed as mine. I was here a lot.

I waited for a good five minutes before the door to the office opened. I scoffed seeing the people walking in. "Great," I muttered. "Just great. They had to call you."

"It's so nice to see you too, Munro," my twenty-three year old brother Laughlin said. "What did you do this time?"

"Nothing," I lied, hoping he would leave. "So you can leave and I can go back to class."

"Funny," Laughlin said sarcastically. "Ellie and I need to talk to the principal, so can you please watch your niece so she won't distract us?"

My one weakness. Laughlin and his wife Elliot's daughter, my niece Elizabeth, was the cutest two year old girl ever. "Whatever," I muttered, so Laughlin put Elizabeth down, who hurried over to me. I picked her up and sat her on my lap.

The principal walked out of her office. "Thank you for coming, Laughlin and Elliot," she said. "There was to be a serious discussion about Munro." She gestured towards her office, so Laughlin and Elliot stepped in.

The reason why my brother was here was because he has custody of me and my thirteen year old brother, Nick. He had ever since he was eighteen, which was five years ago. My family was a mess. Ever since I was seven. Ten years of a messy family and still running.

Laughlin proposed to Elliot when he was nineteen and she was eighteen, and they only had been dating for a year. However, they truly loved each other and even though they got married young, they made it work. And now, Elliot was pregnant with their second child who was due to be born in a few weeks.

I pulled out my cell phone and began playing a game, one that Elizabeth loved helping me with. Her little smile and deep dimples were very cute.

Hearing some people talking from outside, I looked out the office window leading to the hallway. A group of girls were there, who were smiling at me. I only knew one of them, Kamille Barnes. She was in my English class and she was quite friendly.

Kamille walked into the office and sat down beside me. "Shouldn't you be in class?" she asked.

"Didn't you hear the announcement?" I asked. "The principal is dedicating this very chair to me in a ceremony and I needed to sit here for it to be official."

Kamille rolled her eyes. "Very funny."

"Shouldn't you be in class?" I asked.

Kamille shook her head. "No, I have a spare. Thank goodness because if I want, I can go for an early lunch."

       "Lucky," I said.

"Who's this?" she asked, looking at Elizabeth.

"This is my niece, Elizabeth," I said. "Say 'hi', Elizabeth."

Elizabeth giggle and looked at Kamille. "Hi!"

"She's so cute," Kamille said with a smile. "Well, I should be going back to my friends. Hopefully the dedication ceremony goes smoothly."

She got up and left, so I turned back to my game seconds before Laughlin and Elliot walked out of the principal's office. Elizabeth got off my lap, hurrying to Laughlin, exclaiming "Daddy!" and begging to be picked up.

"Let me guess," I said. "I'm suspended, or even better, expelled?" Taking a few days off of school would be paradise.

"Yeah, you're not getting off that easily," Laughlin said. "As your punishment for releasing scorpions in the science lab," yes, I really did do that, "you will be joining the original play your school is putting on."

School play?! "What?!" I exclaimed, shooting up from my seat. "You can't force me to be in a play!" Was he joking, because that was not funny!

"You might not," Laughlin said. "You're either being part of the cast, or the set builders. And you are not getting out of this. Not after the attitude you've been having. The first meeting is tomorrow after school. Get to class now."

I scoffed, grabbing my bag and storming out of the office. Who did he and the principal think they were? They had no right to force me to be in the stupid school play! I did not fit well with those drama people. Why couldn't have I gotten suspended instead?

Only one thing was certain. I was not going to be happy.

Slamming the door to my apartment may have not been the best idea, but I was still mad about what happened at school.

Elliot, who was in the kitchen, jumped when the door slammed. She had been a bit too jumpy lately. "Geez, Munro," she said, turning around. "Stop slamming the door."

The opened behind me. "Thanks, Munro," Nick said. "Thank you for closing the door when I was about to walk in."

"Are you really mad at what happened?" Elliot asked. "Laughlin...."

"Laughlin doesn't know what's best for me," I said. "I don't care if he's my older brother and my guardian. He shouldn't tell me that I have to be in a stupid play."

"Wait," Nick said. "You're going to be in the play? That's hilarious."

"It's not hilarious," I snapped. "It's stupid, idiotic, and the most crappy thing I'm being forced to do." I turned to Elliot. "Where's Laughlin? I really need to talk to him."

"At the store with Elizabeth," Elliot replied. "Look, I know you're mad about your punishment, but you had to be punished. You're acting like Laughlin when he was seventeen, but worse. You have to be responsible for what you've been doing."

"I appreciate you trying to help, but I'm not doing anything," I said. "I'm being me and there's nothing wrong with it."

       "Munro...." Elliot said.

"I have homework to do," I said, walking into my bedroom and closing the door behind me. I was not looking forward for tomorrow; the first meeting for the stupid play. If the principal and Laughlin wanted me to be there, fine. But that didn't mean I would cooperate.

______________

I am so excited to finally continue this book. I had to put it on hold because of spoilers from Grayson and Poppy's story since they will be featured in here, but since their story is (unfortunately) finished, here this is!

Grayson and Poppy are in Bad Boy's Protection, Senior Year with My Protector, and My Protector: The Bad Boy, but most of you probably know that since those are my most iconic books. Well, in my opinion. cx
