Chapter 15

"So," Nick said as he walked up to my locker after school. I had a feeling he was going to bug me about Kamille. "Miss Conte said you're going to do the last scene today."

"And your point is?" I asked.

"Remember the very last thing that happens at the end?" Nick asked. "I'll give you a hint. It starts with a kiss."

I glared at him. "Will you and Taylor ever stop bugging me about it? Yes, I like Kamille. Big deal, now get over it and leave me alone."

"You have an attitude," Nick said. "Seriously, no need to get worked up over it. It's a younger brother and best friend's job to be annoying."

I flicked his forehead before slamming my locker shut and heading to the theater. Okay, maybe I was overreacting, but I hated when they bugged me about it. I didn't want a girlfriend. I didn't need them, so I would appreciate it if they left me alone about Kamille until my feelings for her left.

I sat down in my usual chair in the theater and it wasn't long before Kamille rushed in and to her spot. "Listen to this," she said, handing me a pair of headphones.

       "Why?" I asked.

"Just listen to it," she said. I sighed and put on the headphones. "Ready?" I nodded and she pressed something on her mp3. Some music started up and it was extremely good, especially the beat. I didn't know too much about music, but I knew this was awesome. "Is it good?"

I nodded and took off the headphones. "It's really good."

Kamille smiled. "I made it in my music class and I wasn't sure if it should be the one I have to hand in tomorrow."

"Definitely hand that one in," I said. "It's amazing."

"Thank you," Kamille said. "I'm glad I can count on you for a second opinion."

Nick and Taylor came into the theater, Taylor immediately making heart-shapes with his fingers. Why did I have to say my Kamille? If I didn't, they wouldn't have suspected this and bothered me about it.

Taylor, however, quickly dropped his hands when Kamille looked at him and acted like he wasn't doing anything. He was still a good friend, even though he wouldn't leave me alone.

Taylor and Nick sat in their seats right as Miss Conte started the rehearsal. "Alright," she said. "We have one more scene to block, and that is the last scene where Jada and Jacob finally talk heart to heart and share a kiss. So Munro and Kamille, on stage please."

I sighed silently as the both of us got up and went onto the stage with our scripts. Miss Conte told us to just act out the scene and she would stop us if she wanted us to stand in a certain spot or whatever.

So we acted out the scene. It was where Jacob told Jada everything about his family and why he acted the way he did. I hated this scene the most, even though I never acted it out yet. I read it after Nick told Kamille and I we would have to kiss and it reminded me way too much of my family.

Then came the part I knew Nick and Taylor were going to bug me about later on. The kiss.

Jacob tells Jada that he was broken and there was nothing she could do to fix it. Jada tells Jacob that there was always something, as long as he let her.

Kamille and I said those lines, then we had to lean in to kiss. But, I had to stop and say, "I'm giving you a chance to pull away."

Kamille gave me a faint smile, but I wasn't sure if it was for the play or not. "Don't," was her line before we had to kiss.

We leaned in to close the remaining gap, but Miss Conte suddenly yelled, "Cut!" Kamille and I quickly pulled away from each other. "That was perfect! I could really feel the emotions you were acting, Munro."

       Yeah, I wasn't acting.

"Same with you, Kamille," Miss Conte said.

"Miss Conte?" Taylor asked, raising his hand.

       "Yes, Taylor?" Miss Conte asked.

Taylor lowered his hand. "I believe there's a kiss in the scene. I didn't see Munro and Kamille kiss."

It was official. I hated Taylor. I was probably going to take his phone and throw it out the window. He loved that thing and I hated him.

"We're going to save the kiss for opening night," Miss Conte said. "It will make it a lot more magical, trust me. Okay, let's run through the scene again before going to the top."

We went through the scene again and Miss Conte cut off us right before we could kiss. Honestly, that was getting me so angry. I just wanted to kiss Kamille already.

Wait, what was I saying? I didn't want to kiss her. I didn't want to....to hold her and hug her and....

Oh my god, I needed some serious help to stop sounding so cheesy.

I hadn't caused any trouble in a while, so maybe I should do something to get back to my regular, non-cheesy self.

This time, we went through half the play before rehearsal was over. I immediately grabbed my bad from beside my chair. "Nick, we're leaving now," I said.

"Okay, no need to get all angry," Nick said as he followed me out of the school and to the parking lot.

I got into the car and started it up as Nick just stood by the opened-passenger door. "Are you coming in or not?"

"I told you before, I don't like you driving when you're angry," Nick said. "Can you calm down first?"

"I'm not angry," I said, though my tone was a bit raised.

"Why are you angry?" Nick asked. "Taylor and I didn't bug you for a while."

       I sighed. "I don't know. I just am."

Nick got into the car and closed the door. "Love is a complicated thing."

       "Shut up."

There was a sudden knock on the car window, so I rolled it down. Kamille was standing there. "I forgot I had this," she said, handing me the sweater I let her wear one time.

I took it from her. "Thanks."

"I guess I'll see you tomorrow," she said.

When she walked away, I rolled up the window. I looked at my sweater, catching a very familiar scent. "This smells like her," I said.

I noticed Nick looking at me with raised eyebrows.

I sighed and rubbed my forehead. "I'm screwed, aren't I?"

______________

I love Munro a lot. And Nick. And Taylor. cx

So this book will be a short one (compared to my other ones) and will probably end on chapter 30, so it's about halfway done. And then, we get Nick's book and for those who have been reading the Protector series bonus chapters, you get to see Todd again. I like the theory you guys said about him in the previous bonus chapter. ;)
