Chapter 27

"I'm not going," I told Laughlin. "I don't remember signing up for this crap."

Laughlin huffed. "Stop being a stubborn brat and just go get into the car. This happens twice a year."

"Yes, I know, but I'm not going," I said.

       "Why?" Laughlin asked.

"Because I'd rather not go to the school during school hours," I said. "I don't care if it's parent teacher meeting. I don't want to go."

"Kamille, can you convince him to go?" Laughlin asked.

      "Munro, go," Kamille said.

       "No."

"Sorry, Laughlin, I tried," Kamille said.

"Kamille doesn't have to go," I pointed out.

"I don't have any guardians," Kamille said. "Munro, seriously go, it's not going to be that bad. You go all the time."

"But then I have to see people I don't want to see," I said. "Everyone at the school is ugly and stupid and I don't want to see them any longer than I have to."

"Munro, just shut up and get in the damn car," Laughlin said. "Or I'll take your TV away."

       "Bite me."

Nick sighed irritably before grabbing my arm and pulling me to the door. I glared at him before putting on my shoes, then following Nick and Laughlin out of the house and to Laughlin's car.

Laughlin drove to the school for the stupid parent teacher meeting. The only time I liked being in the school after school hours was for play rehearsal. Otherwise, I'd rather not be there because I hated everyone.

When we got to the school, we headed to the gym where each teacher had a table to sit at. The first table we went to was my English teacher. "So, lay it on me," Laughlin said. "How bad is Munro doing?"

"Wow, thanks for having so little faith in me," I said. "Some guardian you are."

"Well, Munro has actually been doing surprisingly well," Mrs. Signer said. "Except for the time where he refused to work with someone and left the classroom to go to the principal's office. And he wasn't in class yesterday even though he was in his morning classes, and he didn't even give me a note today."

"I thought I told you not to skip school," Laughlin said.

"Yeah, but you telling me and me actually listening are two different things," I said. "Besides, you can't get mad at me for what I did while I skipped otherwise I'll call you out on being a hypocrite."

Laughlin furrowed his eyebrows. "What did you....Are you serious?!"

"What?" I asked. "You did it while you were in high school. I wanted to do it, so sue me."

Laughlin sighed and looked back at Mrs. Signer. "So, what's his grade as of right now?" he asked.

"Right now, Munro is getting an eighty-five percent," Mrs. Signer said.

"That's....not bad," Laughlin said. "Good job, Munro. I'm proud of you for raising your mark."

       "Thanks, can I leave now?"

"Not yet," Laughlin said. He and Mrs. Signer continued talking about my work for a bit before we walked away from the table.

"Now can I leave?" I asked.

"No, we need to talk to your other teachers, plus Nick's teachers," Laughlin said.

"We don't have to," I said. "Here, let me tell you how Nick is doing. A+, A+, A+, A-...."

"What?" Nick asked. "You liar, I'm not getting an A-."

"See?" I asked. "He's doing so well, that he could probably take a grade twelve test and get the highest mark."

"No," Nick said. "Well, probably. It's not my fault I'm awesome."

We went to the rest of our teachers, and Laughlin was very surprised to hear that I was doing extremely well in all my classes. Well, not extremely well, but way better than I have been doing. I wasn't getting anything less than an eighty percent, and honestly, it was because of Kamille. Ever since I started dating her, I was turning my whole life around for the better.

And it had to do with my finding my passion. I still couldn't believe I loved acting as much as I did. It was amazing and I was even going to go to university for it.

We finished talking to our teachers, so we headed home, but Laughlin first stopped at McDonald's for our dinner.

We got home and Kamille looked over at me from her spot on the couch. "See? Was it as bad as I thought it was?"

       "Yes."

"Liar," Laughlin said. "By the way, I don't appreciate you skipping school."

"I did it, get over it," I said. "Need I remind you all the times you skipped school to fool around with Elliot? And it's not my fault. Kamille has a serious obsession with my car."

Kamille smiled at me. "Your car is amazing. Hey, we should go for a drive. In your car."

       "Shut up."

"You're no fun. Come on. Think of the car. It needs to be driven."

"Or we can eat McDonald's," I said. "And take a break from my car."

       "I like car rides, though."

"Yeah, I have a feeling there's so much more than just the car," Laughlin said.

"Nope," I said. "Just the car. Can we eat the food now?"

Just the car, guys. Just the car. cx

I'm going to try finishing this today. I just have to write three more chapters, plus the epilogue. Hopefully I can, though. My WiFi is being so annoying. It shuts off, then turns on but it's problematic, then it's fine, then it's problematic. Then it shuts off and I have to turn it on, even though the network is on the list. Le sigh. -.-
