Alby's injured

Sophie's POV

I woke up the next day, remembering what happened last night. It looked down to see I still had the locket on, I looked around to see if anybody was awake, nope no-one. I dragged myself out of bed, and put my boots on when I heard talking.

I looked up to see Newt,Thomas and Alby over near the doors talking. I wanted to know what they were saying so I snuck up close enough to hear without them noticing me. 'What do you think that note really means?' I heard Thomas say, 'I don't know but I think we should check out that griever Sophie killed the other day' Alby said, but not looking so happy with what he just said, he turned to Newt 'Newt.. I want you to find a job for the girls to do today, or at least keep them busy' he continued. Newt nodded, then the floor began to rumble, and the doors opened, 'let's go Thomas' Alby said before running off into the maze with Thomas close behind.

I decided to go over and see Newt, since we haven't spoken since last night when he gave me the locket. 'Hey Newt' he got a fright and jumped around, 'Jesus greenbean you gave me a fright' I laughed and so did he, he seems to call me greenbean a lot even though he knows my name, it's kind if annoying but his accent just makes me forget how annoying the name is.

We walked towards Frypan, who was already up and cooking, 'hey Sophie, hey Newt' he waved while still frying the eggs, we both waved back and sat at our usual table.

Newt seemed a little off edge today, I wonder what's bothering him. 'Are you alright newt?' I asked trying it to sound desperate for an answer, he looked from the table, locking eyes with me, 'yeah I'm fine, just a little tired I guess' i could tell he was lying, but I didn't want to ask further questions.

I was with Chuck finishing up his chores, when we heard screaming and shouting, 'Sophie!' I heard someone shout my name, not just any random person, it was Teresa. She stopped dead in her tracks, breathing heavily not able to speak. 'What is it Teresa?' I asked panicking, 'Alby' she took another deep breath, 'Thomas' she pointed over to all the chaos. All the boys were surrounding the maze doors, just like they did the day I ran into the maze, I ran as fast as I could to see what was happening.

When I got in front of all the boys, I saw Thomas and Newt kneeling next to a body, Alby's body. 'What... What happened?' I asked bringing Thomas out of his thoughts, and staring at me, 'he was stung' I gasped at what he said, how could he have gotten stung if I killed the griever. 'B-but how?' I heard Chuck come out from behind me, Thomas looked up at Newt before turning to us, 'we were checking out that griever you killed' he pointed at me, then continued to speak 'we found something, but when we were coming back we ran into another griever' I sighed, his eyes were beginning to run, I couldn't help but hug him.

Newt POV

Alby is hurt, I can't believe it, out if everybody it's him who is stung. I didn't listen to a word anyone was saying, not even Sophie.

I looked up to see tear run down Thomas's face, I feel so sorry for him, this is the second time something has happened out there and he's always the one to witness it. At least this time he isn't trapped out there.

I saw Sophie throw her arms around him, letting him cry into her shoulder. I felt my heart break a little bit, am I jealous? Why would I be jealous? Were only friends, and so are they two, I hope. I tried to push that feeling aside and focus on Alby, he's been my best friend for 3 years.

'Someone help me get Alby to Clint now' I ordered, I don't want to see my best friend die, he needs all the help he can get. Gally and the rest of the boys helped pick Alby up, as so did I.

I felt a hand touch my shoulder, I turned around to see Teresa standing there, 'I don't think you should help carry him' she said, 'why not, he's my best friend' I snapped back not realising it, she jumped back a bit, 'sorry' I whispered, 'it's alright Newt I understand, and you shouldn't because that leg of yours' she pointed down to my leg, I looked down and sighed.

She turned her back to me and walked off towards Thomas, I could see Thomas still crying into Sophie's shoulder, my heart started to ache again. I held my hand up to my chest trying to stop the pain, closing my eyes.

When I opened my eyes again, Sophie was standing face to face with me, she lifted her hand onto my face and wiped a tear off with her thumb, I didn't even realise I was starting to cry. I felt butterflies form in my stomach, Sophie lifted my chin up making me face her. 'It's okay Newt, you don't need to hide your tears' she whispered, then before I knew it she wrapped her arms around my neck and hugged me, I hugged back, wrapping my arms around her waist and putting my head into the side of her neck.

I seemed to be calm in her arms, it felt like the whole world disappeared into thin air, and that it was only me and Sophie around, I hugged even tighter at that thought and she did too. Is she thinking the same thing or is she just hugging my tighter cause I did? I really like this girl but I hardly know her well enough to possible like her that much. 

Sophie's POV

Newt hugged me tighter and so did I, it felt amazing being in his arms again, I really felt protected around him, like no one would ever touch me.

He let go of me and sniffed, I gave him a wee smile. 'I'm glad you like that locket' he said looking down at the locket and then back into my eyes, all I could do was giggle which made him giggle.

All four of us, me,Newt, Thomas and Teresa all walk over to Med-Jacks to check up on Alby, after having an emotional ride. We got in the room Alby was in, with Clint by his side. He was strapped down to the bed, I walked over a bit closer to see if he was awake or not, Thomas did the same thing. All of a sudden Alby jumped up grabbing Thomas by the collar, 'THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT, THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!' He was screaming at Thomas, shaking him like a rag-doll. Me and Newt both jumped forward trying to pull Thomas out of Alby's reach, we all fell to the ground when Alby let go of him. I looked up to see Newt on top of me, his eyes seemed to sparkle when he noticed it was me, it made me melt.     

'I think you guys should leave, it's late' I heard Clint saying in the back grounded knocking me out of my thoughts, 'come on love birds let's go' Thomas said, leaving the room, I rolled my eyes causing Newt to laugh and stand. He put his hand out for me to grab which I did so and guided me out of the room, I looked back to see Alby looking the way he did when we came in, a mess.
