I struggled to contemplate what had happened to me but right now that didn't matter. I had a Mabel to find. I was up on my hooves already, feeling every new muscle move as I stepped! Amazing! My hooves picked up vibrations below and with my super-sensitive ears, I could see what was happening below me in the Shack. Pure silence. Something was off. I wobbled over to the door and held myself up as I opened it.
"Mabel?"
I called. Nothing.
"Mabel!"
Again I called. Again no answer.
I decided she was probably downstairs and cantered down the hallway, gaining momentum as I ran, using my powerful back legs to launch me gracefully into the air.
I had cleared the entire flight of stairs!
Continuing on, I trotted nervously through the downstairs. Nothing. Silence. This was wierd. It was a Friday in the holidays and nearly noon. By this point the Shack would be crammed with tourists. Stan would never miss this. Yet, as I walked into the giftshop, it was closed; all the windows and doors had been bolted up too.
A low whirring came from behind and all of a sudden a strong, gloved hand seized my mouth and an itchy, hessian sack thrown over my head, blacking out my vision and I was dragged off somewhere.
