"Ben?!"

"I didn't know you'd be here! Sure I'll dance with you!"

Ben and I have been friends since we were 5 years old. We met in kindergarten on the playground.

*flashback*

"Yeiiiii weiiiii!!"

"This is sooo much fun I can't believe I can go so high! I feel as if I can fly!" I thought to myself.

"Aaaaaah!!!!!! Help me!!!!" Someone yelled not too far away.

BOOM

I fell from the swing set.

"Ouch!, watch where you're going!" I said to a boy that looked around my age.

"I'm sorry, I just running from a couple of meanies." said the boy (whose name I still didn't know) while he helped me up.

"What! Where are they I'll slap them!" (I was quiet a violent little girl).

"Their...COMING THIS WAY HIDE ME!" Said the boy yelling while crouching behind me.

A couple of feet away was a trio of older kids coming straight at us. Usually, children were cute but the three of them were the complete opposite. The one in the middle of the group had the head the size of a jack-o-lantern.

"Move girlie, go play with dolls or something little baby's do, we have business with your friend over there." said the leader of the group (aka PUMPKIN head guy)

Oooh he made a BIG mistake by calling me "girlie" and saying I played with dolls.

"LISTEN UP PUMPKINHEAD! YOU BETTER BACK OFF OR THIS "GIRLIE" OVER HERE WILL WIPE THE FLOOR WITH YOU!" I screamed my tiny lungs out. While stabbing my little finger at his chest.

My little speech made them take a step back even their leader was in shock. Well, I've always had a big mouth.

But as always bullies are idiots, once again the leader spoke.

"Ha, your gonna have a girl stand up for you! What a wimp!"

And with that I took action.

"Your about to see what this GIRL is made of"

I punched him so hard that he went off running to his mommy, with his two sidekicks right behind him.

Noticing that the bullies were gone the boy stood up from his crouching position.

"Wow that's was so cool, you saved me, oh my name is Ben by the way." he said while sticking his hand out in front of him.

"It was nothing, my name is Alva, and I think this the beginning of a beautiful friendship...."

*End of flashback*

I remember all that while I was swaying to the music with Ben.

"You haven't answered my question." I said looking up at him.

Bens works overseas as a marine biologist, so it's quite rare that he was here in the states.

"I came to be with my best friend, knowing she'd be bored out of her mind." he smiled down at me.

"Awww that's one of the sweets things you've ever done for me."

We kept on dancing and talking about whatever when somebody tapped on Ben's shoulder.

"May I?" Asked the smooth voice.

"Sure." said Ben and then left

That's when I saw the face of my new dance partner.

"Maxwell?" I said while he took my hand in his and lead me to the middle of the dance floor.

"Alva, I would prefer if you called me by my name, not my surname"

"Umm okay..... Sterlyn... Why are you even here?"

"Your cousin Lars invited me"

"I'm going to kill him..." I thought internally.

"Oh, how nice of him..." I said sarcastically.

We kept on swaying to the music a bit awkwardly, all I wanted to do was get away from him, he didn't deserve to be dancing with me!

I stiffen when he moved his hands to my waist. I backed away a little. He looked at me like 'what's the problem?' With a bit of a puppy dog face.

"Awwww how cute! Wait what get a hold of yourself Alva!" I thought.

"So where do you work?" He asked trying to make small talk. Taking me out of my thoughts.

"I... Umm... Work at NET design company, as a graphics designer"

"Wow that sounds good, I'm working at my dad's company learning how to manage it"

"I didn't ask you..." I said threw my grinding teeth.

"Looks as if someones has a bit of attitude." he said with a cocky smirk on his face.

"And it looks like someone has a big ego" I replied back.

I couldn't stand being in his presences anymore.

"I would say that I loved dancing with you, but that would be a complete lie, bye Sterlyn Maxwell, I wish to never see your face again" And with that, I left.

But I could have sworn I heard him say:

"That's a wish that won't be coming true Alva..."
