A couple of days have passed since the family dinner I had with Sterlyn and his parents and oddly enough it left me in a pretty happy mood (which for me is completely weird) I was even being nice to Rona, much to her surprise as well.

I had even gone out to eat with Jane and didn't put on a puking face when she started to tell me the details about her wedding and how stress she was, I honestly deserve an applause for that, she was pretty stunned at my attitude it got to the point where she thought I was coming down with the flu, to which I gave her the stink eye and she knew that I was alright.

It was Friday now and I was even happier because I got off work early so that I could hang out with Ben; it honestly felt like forever since I hung out with him. We decided to be adventurous for once and go hang out by the lake a couple of minutes away from his house. It was awesome it had an old playground near it with a picnic area, more could you ask for?

"Hey, can you give me a hand with the picnic basket?" I asked Ben while taking the things out of the trunk of my car.

"Yeah, here you take this backpack and the blanket while I take the rest. Oh and go find us a spot." He said while taking the basket from my hands.

With that, I went to find a go spot in between the lake and the playground. After I found one I opened up the blanket and then setting down the backpack just as I finished Ben came and set down the rest of the stuff. We organized everything and then I asked him what he wanted to do first.

He got up and stretched thought for a moment and then said:

"I'll race you to the lake!" and with that said he was off.

"Hey! Thats cheating! You had a head start!" I said as I got up from the ground and chased him.

He turned and stuck his tongue out at me and a couple of seconds later he was jumping up and down saying:

"I WON AND YOU LOST!"

"God, you're such a child." I said laughing as I arrived.

We kicked our shoes off and put our feet in the water, it felt fantastic and then we started throwing water at each other; it was fine if we got wet we had brought a change of clothes just in case.

After we got tired of looking like a par of five tears throwing water at one another, I decided it was time to be more like ten-year-olds and head to the swings we were both competing to see who could go higher, in the end, I won (that's what he gets for cheating before).

"So what youve been up to these last couple of days without me?" Ben asked as we swang a lot more gently.

"Well, most of the time I've been working or talking with Jane about her wedding. Oh but the other day I did have dinner with Sterlyn and his parents."

"You what?!" Bens eyes were practically bursting from his eye sockets.

"I just told you!"

"Yeah, but it's hard to believe coming from you."

"But its true and I actually had a lot of fun, his parents were really nice and damn can his mother cook." I could still taste those Gnocchis.

"And how did Sterlyn treat you?"

"He treated me fine, I'm actually starting to believe he has really changed. Can you believe that he asked me to be friends again?!" I was so stunned when he did.

"I'm supposing you said no'." He looked at me with curious eyes.

"Actually I said 'yes'".

"Really! Why? After everything he has done to you, why would you accept his friendship?" He honestly looked hurt saying those words.

"Well I thought about that too, but the thing is I always overthink things and yes most of the times it works out great, but that doesn't leave much room for adventure or the thrill of the unknown, which I miss out a lot because I'm always trying to think ahead. So I decided to take a chance with Sterlyn, who knows maybe things work out great."

I was honestly committed to try and see things in a positive light, because ever since Sterlyn has come into my life again the only things I have met him with is a dry and negative attitude and sure it's true that I have all the right to duel on the past and not get over it but what would I win with that? In what way does that anger help me? With nothing, absolutely nothing.

"And what happens if it doesn't work out great?" Ben asked a very valid question.

"I move on and accept it. If I could handle him breaking my heart when I was a teen who already had it hard I think I can take it now that I'm an adult who has most of their shit put together." The last words I spoke were in a defiant tone signaling that this conversation was now over.
