Sterlyn's POV
There I stood frozen in my spot, not knowing what to do. The only thing that replayed over and over in my mine were her words
'You're the one that wanted this four-eyed geek to leave you alone in the first place.'
Those words hurt more than her slap on the face. Those words made me realize that getting into Alva's heart again was not going to be an easy job. It would be one of the hardest things I would ever do in my life.
But I would do it anyways. I would fix this wrong that I committed.
I saw in the distance how she ran farther and farther away from me leaving me alone. Just like I had told her to do years ago...
That was the biggest mistake I had ever made in my life. I had let the girl who made me smile and laugh run out of my life. And for what? To be accepted by my group of friends, to not look like a pussy. Sadly I was a complete idiot as a teenager and I regret every single minute of it.
'You will fix this!'
I had to take the first step to make this all better, she has all the right to be pissed off at me because, in the end, it was all my fault, not hers.
I took that step and then the other, all the way until I got to my car and drove to her workplace. Waiting for her to come out. I knew she'd had to be here, she hadn't been with her purse when I saw her before.
I couldn't stop thinking about everything. Every single thing that I had shared with her every thought, every smile, every laugh...
All gone... Turned into just a memory; the worst part of it is that they were my best memories.
I remember when it all started... Man now that I think about it that was the best day of my life, even though to others it's was probably like any other day of the year.
*flashback*
"Maxwell I need you to stay after class." Said Mr. Kenny my biology teacher, while passing by my desk.
"Damn, that's never something you wanna hear." I mumbled.
After about 20 minutes the bell rung letting everybody free but me.
I slung my book bag on my right shoulder and walked up to Mr. Kenny's desk up front.
"You told me to stay?" I had asked, although it came out more as a statement.
"Yes I did; you are very close to failing my class." He said with a stern voice.
Damn, I can't be flunking, I'll be kicked off the basketball team. I thought.
"Sir I'll do... extra credit or I could stay and clean the lab on Tuesdays! Anything just don't fail me!" I pleaded almost going down on my knees.
"You won't need to do any of that if you can bring your grades up with the next 3 exams I believe you can pass with an average grade." He responded.
"You can count on that." I said while taking a few steps to leave the classroom.
"Wait!" Mr. Kenny said while sticking a palm out. "If you need help studying you should ask Alva Jackson to help you. She doing quite well in my course." He suggested.
I thought about for a moment and then nodded before heading out the door.
*************
When I had arrived at my locker I realized that all of my friends had already left to go home.
"Figures" I thought.
I stuffed my thing into my bag before slamming my locker shut. I turned on my heels to my left getting ready to head to the parking lot so that I could get out of this dump, but my eyes saw a guy opening his locker and sticking in his biology book in. His was the same addition as mine; an idea popped into my head.
I went over to him and asked: "Do you happen to know who Alva Jackson might be?"
"Depends on who's asking." he said while turning around.
Wait, I know this dude he is in my math class. What was his name again? Len? Den? Oh, it was Ben.
"Hey Ben what up bro; hadn't recognized you from behind." I said.
"Oh, it 's you Maxwell; I thought you were someone else."
"Yeah, don't worry about that; but now that you see that I'm not a killer can you tell me were Alva is?" I asked.
"Umm yeah sure, she must be in the library, look for her in the fiction section."
"Thanks, bro." I said before leaving.
********
"Chemistry... Design... Fiction!" I whispered screamed: luckily the librarian didn't hear me.
I walked into the little hall and saw a chick sitting crossed legged on the ground; with her head down reading a book. She looked very absorbed into it so I felt a bit bad for interrupting.
"Hey... Umm, you wouldn't happen to be Alva Jackson?" I asked.
"Yes, and what is it to you?" She responded still not looking up from her book.
I felt a bit upset about not receiving any attention like I was used to, but I maintained my cool.
"I need your help."
"I'm not giving you any money for drugs." She answered cruelly.
"What! No, I need your help in biology!"
"Aah, well that I can do." She said while slamming the book shut and looking up at me.
Gosh. She had the most amazing green eyes; her small pink lips went perfectly with them. I looked at her hair for the first time since I arrived, it was a dark chocolate color that had curls all round it gleamed even with the horrible lighting of the library.
"Are you just going to stare at me all day or do you want to study?" She said taking me out of my thoughts.
"Oh sorry yeah... Let me help you up." I said sticking out my left hand.
"No I'm fine; thank you though." She said pushing herself off the floor, then she grabbed her bag and slung it and her shoulder. She turned to put away the book she was reading.
"Ready to get started? I hope you know that I'm a picky teacher." She pointed her index finger at me.
"I wouldn't expect any less." I said with a smile.
*ends flashback*
"Damn!" I mad a fist and hit the top of the steering wheel.
I was so distracted that I didn't notice that Alva's car had left the parking lot.
"Wait she must have just gotten out, I can still find her!"
With that said I raced out of the parking lot like a madman.
Minutes later I spotted her car, but she apparently saw my car at the same moment because she made many turns and after a while, I lost her.
"Gosh she's impossible!" I grunted.
"Yeah she's always been like that" my brain responded.
I decided to do the only logical thing at that moment; I went to Bens house since it was obvious that she wasn't going to go to hers.
