Chapter 38 - Return

20 years later

Alyssa
"Diana! Diana! Get back here!"

"No!"

"Princess, let her go."

"She is not going anywhere. She's sixteen years old. She has no idea what she's in for."

"I'm going, mother! I want to see Aunt Aria. You can't keep us from seeing her."

"I'm not keeping you from seeing anyone. I told you we would all go one day. It's not that day yet."

"When will that day be? Do you plan to wait until I'm old like you?"

If my sixteen year old daughter wasn't planning on planet hopping without the knowledge and if the situation wasn't serious I would have laughed.

"You're not going. That's final."

"Daddy," she whined.

"Don't you dare interfere." Adrian held up both palms and backed away. Out of the corner of my eyes I glimpsed Adam, our four year old son playing with fire, again. "Adam, no!" I quickly put out the fire he'd been playing with before he burned down half the house again.

"You never let me do anything. Domnik and Alekzandier have been to Dronan many times. Why can't I go?"

"Your brothers are grown men. They can do as they please."

"I'm sixteen." She crossed her arms.

"Precisely. You're not going anywhere, and if you keep his up I'll be forced to let Aiden take away your powers."

"What? You can't do that."

"I can and I will."

"But..."

"Not another word, Diana."

We've been on planet Earth for twenty years. We've had to conform to their ways. That meant no magic in public. We still used it at home, probably too much. It was a good thing Adrian was here to teach them self control. If not for him I don't think they would have been able to go to a normal school. From time to time we'd get the occasional phone call about fights or unexplained injuries to other students, but it was nothing we couldn't handle.

She stormed away angrily with her blonde curls bouncing heavily.

"If I didn't know any better I'd think she wasn't ours."

"She's curious."

"She's also rude and disrespectful."

"All teenagers are like that."

"I wasn't."

"That's because you weren't a normal teenager."

"Whatever." I hit his chest and he chuckled. Adam ran over with yet another fireball in his palm. "This one is definitely yours." Adam's gold eyes lit up with excitement as he held his palm out to us like he always does. I rolled my eyes and kissed him on the head. "Try not to let him burn the house down." Whenever I left Adrian and Adam together something is bound to go wrong. All I had to do was wait for it.

"Look who we caught trying to sneak out." Domnik and Alekzandier walked in each with a tight grip on Diana's arm.

"Let me guess...about this tall, blonde hair, gold eyes and goes by the name Diana."
