Chapter 8 - Let the hunt begin

Aria
I could honestly say that was one of the best sleeps I've had in a long while. My mind was free and clear. I've become focused. Zane wasn't in the room when I woke up, but that didn't bother me. Vengeance was on my mind. I didn't concern myself with finding Julian. I would leave him for the very last. I would get rid of his little minions one by one first. And I would make it hurt. They would not get an easy death. Of that I would make sure.

After taking a shower, I got dressed in white skinny jeans and a pink cropped top. A pair of pink pumps graced my feet. I ate my breakfast and waited patiently for Zane to return.

Since he was taking forever to return from wherever he went, I decided to be proactive. I logged on to his laptop which didn't have a password to my surprise. I wondered if it was because of me. An apartment should be pretty easy to find. I just needed to look properly.

Zane finally returned after I found a good enough apartment. I had already called about it. We just needed to pay the deposit and sign. I could have done it, but I wanted his approval first.

"You're up, and you're eating."

"As you can see. Where have you been?"

"The Queen requested my presence."

"Did she now?"

"She wanted to know why we didn't accept the house."

"I'm sure she did. What did you say to her?"

"I told her we appreciated the offer but we would have to refuse."

"And what did she say to that?"

"She insisted we accept her offer of housing."

"Thought so. Come on, let's go." He didn't respond. His eyes were glued to my body, or rather a specific part of my body. "What?"

"You look nice."

"Thank you. Are you planning to stand there and stare all day?"

"Where are we going?" He seemed to have gotten a hold of himself.

"We're going to see my dear cousin. We'll stop to sign the apartment lease on the way."

"You found one? That was quick."

"Yes. I'm really not a fan of hotels. We're going to need cars too, but I've also got that covered. So stop staring and let's go."

"Are you really going out like that?"

"Like what?"

"With your stomach exposed."

I looked at him confused.

"This is how I always dress."

"But you're going to see the Queen. Shouldn't you at least look presentable in her eyes?"

"I am presentable."

"Aria."

"Zane."

We stared each other down.

"It's not like I'm going on official business. I'm going to see my cousin with my boyfriend. It's a friendly visit. You should probably change too, not that I don't love seeing you in a suit. I really do. It does something to me."

"Boyfriend is it?"

"Is that all you heard from what I just said?"

"Pretty much." He smirked. "I like the way you think."
