Chapter 26 - Revenge is a dish best served with precision
Aria
I was over being a victim. I was over being controlled by my memories. And I was over being dependent on anyone but myself. Okay, maybe that last one was a lie. The truth was I really needed Zane. If he was here my nights wouldn't be so hard. Being in this house with four of the men that raped me would not be so hard. My nightmares wouldn't be so unbearable. But he wasn't here. After promising to not leave me, he ended up leaving anyway. Do I hold it against him? Absolutely.
"So, how are we today?" Since Zane left I've gotten crueler. I didn't care if they ate or slept. That wasn't my problem. My problem was letting them suffer just like how they made me suffer. My first victim of torture would be one of the twins. I didn't know which was which these days because their faces were covered in facial hair. "No answer? Well then. Glaring at me won't stop what's about to come so it's pointless." I opened the door for the men I had employed specifically for this process. "Bring it in." Two men brought in the wooden tub that I had requested them to get. "Put it over there by the window." They struggled with the heavy tub and finally placed it by the window. That was the perfect spot for what I had in mind.
I freed the twin that looked closer to death from his entrapment. "What are you doing?" His brother seemed to find the strength to mumble out that sentence. I opened the window. The room could do with some fresh air. They stunk. Three pair of eyes looked at me, one pair in fear, another in confusion, and the other in hate. How fitting? The looks they were giving me matched their personalities so well. Steele was always the weaker out of the three. He feared what I would do to his brother and him, because he knew he was next. That's the order in which this would go.
Ian looked confused because he couldn't possible believe that the innocent girl he knew those years ago was capable of doing something like this. I laughed. Then there was Julian. His eyes bored into me in absolute hate. He hasn't eaten anything. He didn't even drink the water I was so generous to offer him. At least Ian was smart enough to know that he'll need strength to endure what was to come. I was almost disappointed with Julian. I thought he would have made it more fun. The first few days he was here I couldn't function. His face alone was enough to have me panicking. But the more time passed and the more nightmares I had, I realised he couldn't do anything to me now. I had the upper hand. And if by some miracle he managed to escape, he'd be dead before he could even blink. It was that knowledge that gave me the strength to do what needed to be done. Julian Prenderghast no longer intimidated me; none of them did.
"What am I doing? You'll find out soon enough." I took a bite of my apple. It was delicious. "Put him in the water." The men did as I asked. His body was fully covered, only his head was sticking out. That's how I wanted it. I held out my hand. They handed me the things I had requested, honey and milk. I smiled because I knew he was too weak to do anything. Even if he wanted to try and fight, he couldn't. "Hold his head back." I started pouring the honey and the milk over his face. Once I was sure his face had been properly coated I went to my usual position on top of the one table in the room. "Let the torture begin." I put in my earphones and turned up the music. Although it seemed like I was disinterested in what was about to happen, I was pretty much aware and ready. It wouldn't be long now.
I smiled when the first buzzing sound caught my ear. The flies had started coming in. Poor Steele was too out of it to even fight them off. One by one they started to pitch on his face. It might have been the honey or it might have been the milk. It might have even been both, but whichever one it was it helped with the flies pitching and staying on his face. The others looked on disgustedly, not even Julian could mask his disgust at the sight. And to think, this was only the beginning.
