05 // Walkers

The sickness has gotten bad. It's been spreading to everyone. We've lost a lot of people. Everyone we has been infected has to stay in there cell's away from everyone. I'm not aloud around Judith,because I've been around the sick people. Evelyn and I were sitting outside looking at the stars.

"Do you miss life before all this?" I asked.

"No I mean I have nothing to miss I mean you had friends and family even school. Me I had a stuffed teddy bear and Sammy" Evelyn said while pulling out grass.

"I know I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked" I said.

"It's okay Carl" she said giving me a reassuring smile.

"Do you ?" She asked.

"Ya I even miss my bitchy teacher" I said with a laugh.

She smiled too. We were staring into each other's eyes. Slowly leaning in. We were so close when my dad walked over.

"Hey kids come help me" my dad said interrupted us.

"Dammit" I mumbled.

"Maybe next time" Evelyn said then kissed my cheek.

I blushed. I know she likes me but does she wanna date. Girls confuse me.

We walked to the fence with my dad. He needed me to help putting up these wood things to hold it up. Evelyn stabbed walkers. Dad and I tried to put up one more but it was to little. The fence dropped letting walkers enter.

"Shit" Evelyn said.

"Come on" Dad said showing us to this barrier of guns.

"Here" he said handing me and Evelyn guns.

"Sick" Evelyn said.

We walked to the herd of walkers coming in and started shooting. I shot a bunch. I glanced at Evelyn who was using her knife to stab walkers in the head. She looked at me and I decided to try and look tuff. I pushed a walker down and stomped its head in. She shook her head and looked at the ground. She then picked up a brick she saw on the ground and used it to hit a walker.

"You out badassed me" I said after all the walkers were down.

"I'm sorry" she said getting close.

"So can we continue from where we were?" I asked.

She was cutoff by my dad again. Can this guy like stop ruining my moments geez.

"Come on we gotta check inside" he said pulling us away from each other.

I pulled out my gun and so did my dad. Evelyn pulled out her bow. We ran in to check on everybody.

"Dammit" Evelyn said.

There were walkers everywhere. They were biting the infected people who had been resting in their cell's.

"Carl go find Beth and Judith" Dad  ordered. I heisted then went.

"Evelyn you help the people up here" Rick said then jogging away. 

I jogged over to a walker about to bite a little boy. I stabbed it in the head.

"Hey hey it's okay where's you mom" I said to the little boy.

"I-I don't know"he said in between sobs.

"Come on" I said gesturing for him to jump in my back.

He jumped on my back. I tried walking against the walls so the walkers didn't notice. I was still walking when a lady ran over in tears.

"My son you saved him thank you thank you" she said taking him and hugging him tightly.

"Take him somewhere safe" I said then walking off to kill more walkers.

I heard familiar crying coming from a cell.

"Sammy?" I said worriedly.

"Sissy" he cried.

"I thought you were with Beth" I said.

"I lost her when the walkers started eating people" he said still crying.

I heard walkers coming. I jumped to the corner where Sammy was hiding. I hugged him tightly. I can't lose him. He's all I have. He's my best friend. The walkers passes.

"It's okay I'm here and I'm never leaving you alone again" I said tears beginning to come down.

"Please don't cry sissy" He said wiping the tears off my cheeks.

"I'm trying not to Sams" I said attempting to smile.

"I love you sissy" he said.

"I love too" I said then kissing his forehead.

He yawned. I realized it's probably super late.

"Come on bud It's bed time" I said standing up.

He grabbed my hand and we walked over to our cell. I layer him on the top bunk.

"Goodnight" I said his head.

"Goodnight" he said cuddling my sweater.

I gave him that incase we ever got separated. He had it to remember me. Just like I had his teddy bear. I don't want to leave him but I had to only for a little bit. I have to check on everyone.

I walked out of my cell. It was so quiet and empty. Only dead bodies. I sighed. I walked down the hall. I heard footsteps. I pulled out my knife. I turned the corner where the steps were coming from. I was about to stab it.

"Whoa there" a familiar voice said.

I looked up meeting those familiar blue eyes.

"Sorry Carl" I said putting my knife back in my pocket.

"Is everything okay?" He said obviously noticing the dried up tears.

"I thought I almost lost Sammy" I said looking at my shoes.

He didn't say anything he just hugged me. I hugged him back. After awhile we pulled away.

"Is everyone else okay?" I asked

"Ya there fine" he said as we walked back to the cell's

He walked me to mine.

"Goodnight Carl" I said.

"Night Eve" he said back.

Our faces were inches apart. Remember what Maggie said Flirt! I took a step back. He looked shocked.

"Goodnight Grimes" I said shutting the cell.

I laughed to myself then went to bed. He's so cute.
