11 // Barn

After Beth died everyone has been a wreck. Things have been really tough. We left the church so we're on the road again.

We were all sitting in a circle in silence. No one was talking.

Evelyn laid her head on my shoulder and closed her eyes. I laid my head on hers and closed my eyes. We haven't gotten much sleep either so this was an opportunity. We got a good 5-10 minutes. Dogs. I don't even know where they could have came from but here they are barking like crazy. Daryl shot the dogs.

Those dogs were our dinner. I know it sounds horrible but we needed food. We finished and had to keep walking.

"I hold her for 30 minutes then you hold her will keep switching" Evelyn said.

"Okay" I said handing her Judith.

"Your so cute" Evelyn said to Judith.

"Thank you" I said attempting to make her smile.

"You are too" she said kissing my cheek.

"Your turn" Evelyn said handing Judith to me.

We've been walking all day on the same street. It started to get a bit cold out here and the clouds were gray. Rain?

"Do you think it's gonna rain?" I ask Evelyn and Michonne.

"I don't know but I hope I haven't seen rain in forever" Evelyn said.

"Agreed" Michonne said.

For some reason everyone stopped walking. There were jugs of water and water bottles sitting in the middle. There was a note attached saying From a friend.

"Nobody drink it we don't know who gave these to us" Dad said.

"Or what they put in" Carol added.

Eugene ignored them and picked up w bottle to drink. Abraham smacked it out of his hand.

"What the hell are you doing?" Abraham yelled.

The argument was stopped by thunder. Finally what we've been waiting for happened rain. Everyone in the group smiled. Rosita and Tara laid on the ground. I covered Judith with my hat. Evelyn opened her mouth letting water in. I copied her. The rain got harder. To the point we couldn't be out there anymore.

"There's a barn down that way" Daryl yelled.

We all ran to it. Maggie, dad and Daryl, and Michonne cleared it. They gave us the okay and we went in. Judith and I laid in a piece of hay. Evelyn said she was gonna talk to Maggie then come lay with us.

"Hey Maggie" I said softly.

She was laying by herself in front of a lamp. She ignored me. She was still upset about Beth. I understand why.

"Maggie I just wanted to say I'm here for you okay? I always will your my sister" I said then walking away since she said nothing back.

I walked over to Carl and Judith who were passed out. I slightly smiled then sat on the piece of hay behind them. I couldn't sleep like always so i just listened to the rain, but instead I heard Rick, Carol, Daryl and Michonne's conversation.

"I feel bad no kid should have to grow up in a world like this" Carol said.

"I guess it's kind of good because being a kid is about learning about life" Rick explained.

"This isn't a life" Michonne said.

Rick then told them a story on about his childhood. Which for some reason helped me sleep.

I heard pounding. I jumped up and saw the group trying to hold the barn door closed. I got up to help. We eventually got the doors to stay shut and were able to go back to bed.

~the next day~

I woke up they same place as last night. Maggie, Sasha and Evelyn were gone. I started getting worried. I went to ask my dad. He said they just went out for awhile. He told me a reason but I blanked out.

After an hour Maggie,Sasha and Evelyn came back with a strange man.

"Who's this?" Dad asked.

"Aaron he said he knows a safe place" Maggie said.

Dad argued with her. I saw Evelyn walk away from it and went back outside. I ran out behind her. My dad was to busy arguing to notice.

"Evelyn where are you going?" I asked once I caught up to her. She was climbing up a tree.

"Come up" she said.

I did as she said and climbed up. We were sitting on a branch looking at the sky.

"So why'd you come out here?" I asked.

"I can't take the fighting anymore it's useless" she said leaning against the tree trunk.

"Yeah" I said.

" I kind of do and I don't trust Aaron but I mean we should take our chances for a safe place to live ya know?" She said.

"I wish my dad thought like you" I said.

She gave me a half smile.

"We should get back" she said.

"Ya lets go" I said.

We crawled back down. I grabbed her hand and walked back to the barn. When we got back no one was fighting.

"Maybe the figures it out" I whispered to Evelyn.

"Hopefully" she whispered back.

A/N: this chapter is sloppy AF I'm trying to rush it to get to the Alexandria part 😂😂 I'll try to make the next chapter better sorry
