XXVI - only you

Note: I totally stole the song from a tv show 😂 if you are a dedicated watcher to it you'll know the song and might scream so yeah
Also last part is typed in my phone so excuse my errors

*3rd POV*

Today was the last day until Lachlan went home. Before he went to Uni. (A/N I GOT IT RIGHT YEET)

Lachlan sat his desk chewing at the end of his pen trying to process the information. Any of it. Alex was holding something from him, and he wanted to know what, but he didn't want to push it out of her. He didn't realize he was tapping his foot on the ground until his aunt yelled up at him telling him to stop it since they were downstairs. He silently laughed to himself before stopping. He wasn't sure what to do about this situation. He wasn't sure what to do at all.

He groans in frustration running his fingers through his hair resting his elbows on the wooden desk. He would slam his fists on the desk, but he knew Fiona would just get mad at him. "Yo Lachy!" Someone shouts from outside his window.

I wonder who it could be?

He thinks to himself sarcastically. He steps out into the small balcony seeing Alex sitting on her windowsill. "What you want, cupcake?" He teases popping the p (*cough Coach Hedge cough*)

"Preston invited everyone to his house. Up for it?"
"Yup."
"Cool bro. We're supposed to be there around 7:23."
"Why not 7:30?" He quizzes wondering why such a weird time.
"I'm not sure. Ask the pleb who came up with it. See you in an hour." He looks at the clock at his nightstand seeing it was 6:15 wondering how the heck he spent so much time thinking about her.

Pushing it aside, he got ready putting on a cream, green and maroon striped  shirt with khakis. That was kind of Lachlan's thing to wear khakis instead of jeans. He wasn't sure why, but it gave him a little edge and he liked it. After brushing his teeth and styling his hair into its usual quiff, he went outside and knocked on Alex's door. She came out with a black striped t-shirt, but the stripes were thicker, and her favorite jean shorts with some sandals. Lachlan liked her fashion taste. It was simple, but a bit edgy. Just like her. "Let's head out then shall we?"

They pull up to the large house and park on the street in front of it next behind all the other cars. Lachlan opens the door for Alex, just because he can and felt like it, making Alex timidly blush with a sheepish smile getting out. That's what she loved about Lachlan. He always made her feel like a princess even though she was anything but royalty.

When they walk up to the door she knocks and the door opens revealing a dark room. Lachlan reaches to his left to flip the light switch, but before he can a hand grabs his wrist making him jump a kilometer (IDK IF THATS A PHRASE PEOPLE ACTUALLY USE BUT IDC) bumping his head on the top of doorframe shrieking. Suddenly, the lights turn on revealing everyone else and they yell surprise laughing including Alex who was standing beside him clutching her stomach keeping herself up against the wall laughing hysterically.

"Sorry, mate." Vik apologizes in between his own chuckles standing next the door in between laughs. Lachlan just rubs the top of his head where he hit his head glaring at Vik even though he was laughing too.
"What even is this?" Lachlan asks surprised at his own surprise party.
"Your going away party, you dweeb." Mitch explains walking up and patting his friend on the back.

There were people here Lachlan didn't know, but they seemed nice. Must've been from their school since all of them went to school except  Louise, Jerome's new girlfriend, who was homeschooled. He had met her and she seemed nice and he spotted Alanna talking to another guy, though, meaning she was still in their tight knit group. Plus it didn't seem like there were any hard feelings between them that much and he was glad.

On the other side of the room, everyone else out of their group surrounding the dj table trying to find the perfect song for Lachlan and Alex.
"Shouldn't it be something slow?" Kayleigh asks pointing towards the title of a slow song on the computer song.
"I agree, but not that slow." Amanda counters continue trying to scroll.

"What about something fast? We can do something from dirty dancing." Mitch suggests making all the girls roll their eyes.
"Boys." Louise mutters.

"Wait!" Soda shouts making Amanda, who has control of the mouse, jump.
"Oh my God, Soda!" She complains scrolling back up to where Soda told her to stop.

"That one." Soda points to the thin bar and everyone nods.
"Let's play this sucker then!" Preston shouts.

"What the heck is this?" Alex mutters as the retro-sounding song plays through the house. It seemed kind of slow, but not something slow enough a slow dance, but couples started slow dancing around them.

"Would you like to dance?" Lachlan asks, he face flushed holding his hand out.
"Yeah." Alex smiles taking his Han and they pull each other close.

"Warning, I don't know how to slow dance." Lachlan blushes smiling sheepishly making Alex let out a small giggle.

"Follow my lead, yeah." Lachlan nods as they seat back and forth.

(Just like btw these aren't the first words it's like the second part of the first verse)

"This song is nice." Lachlan comments receiving a small nod from Alex who couldn't help but smile having Lachlan so close to her. She knew he was lucky, but in this moment, she realized just how lucky she was.

Lachlan quietly hums to the beat of the song holding Alex tighter loving the moment and never wanting to let go.

And they didn't. Even after the song was over they hung in each other's embrace and warmth not going to let go.
