Until Dawn-I Won't Leave You Behind /Josh x Chris

The Beginning

Two weeks ago to this day, an incident happened that would change the lives of these eight teenagers for the worse. A prank made by the broken turned into a life or death situation to all eight, including the prankster. As dawn arrived of the new day, only seven were rescued, and the broken was to remain there, to become the monster that his sister had become.

Chris, one of the survivors, was deeply effected by this. It wasn't the creatures that scarred him the most, for it was the prank that ended up hurting him. Well, more or less the prankster. He felt betrayed for the fact was that the one who pulled the terrible prank_of nearly killing everyone_ was his best friend, Josh. Though Josh did end up hurting Chris, he never stopped being Josh's friend. Even when Josh's mental state completely snapped, he did all that he could to make sure he was alive. He even went out to find his friend though it could have meant certain death.

Everyone seemed to get more distant after that day, well except for the couples. Chris kept in touch with his crush, Ashley, but he never really talked to anyone else. He barely even talked to her. Chris had always had Josh on his mind, he worried about him and he kept that slimmer of hope that he was still alive.

Chris's phone suddenly rang. The tired male jumped in surprise when he heard the familiar tone. Glancing over, he saw that Ashley was trying to call him. Though he was tired_he hadn't slept in a few days_, he picked up the phone and pressed 'accept'.

"Hey, Ash. What's up?" Chris spoke, holding back a yawn.

"Chris. I heard the guys who went down to the mines went missing. Do...do you think everything is alright?" Ashley spoke in a nervous tone.

"Honestly, no."

Ashley seemed uneasy with Chris's answer. There was pause and Chris finally spoke.

"I'm going back to the mines."

Ashley gasped. "No! You're not goi-"

"Josh can still be alive!" Chris cut her off. " I need to check! Or at least find something of him."

"You're going to get yourself killed! He's probably one of those things! I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I found out you got hurt."

"Ash, I'll be fine. I know what to do. Besides, I'm not going to go too far into the area. Just enough to see if there is-"

"No. I won't let you" Ashley demanded.

Chris tensed up at the sudden demand and thought for a moment. The blonde then shook his head. "I'm sorry, Ash."

"Chris, if you go...I won't be here for you; if you come back at all." Ashley sadly spoke then hung up.

Chris slowly placed his phone back down as he blankly stared at the wall in front of him. He glanced at the table next to him and saw the picture of when he and Josh went to King's Island. They both were so happy. Chris's face was tinted red from laughing that day, so the camera used to take the picture made it look like he was a tomato.

A tear began to ease down Chris's scarred cheek as the memories began to flood back. Chris had made his decision. Getting off the bed, he began to strip out of his lounge clothes. Walking to his closet, he began to pick out the warmest clothes he could find, plus an extra pair. The extra was for when he found Josh. If he found Josh. As Chris began to get dressed, the more he liked his idea.

Once he was dressed, he grabbed a backpack to put supplies in. In the backpack was: a flare gun, extra clothing, 15 energy bars, 5 bottles of water, a blanket, a lighter, a flashlight and a crowbar. Everything was tightly packed but he was ready to go.
