"Surprise to see me Daphne?" Sharmaine smirked as she crossed her arms over her chest.
I blinked once, twice. No this can not be happening. My best friend wouldn't betray me. No. Not Sharmaine. Not Sharmaine that I knew since middle school. Not Sharmaine who burned my hair once. Not Sharmaine who made me laugh, who made me cry over the years. No. Not Sharmaine. Please tell me this is just a dream.
"I'll leave you two alone." The school principal broke the silence as he closed the door from behind him, leaving me and Sharmaine in an awkward silence. At least that's what I thought.
I stared at Sharmaine for a while. She had this smile planted on her face that I never saw, that I never knew. This wasn't Sharmaine. This wasn't my best friend.
Nobody spoke at first. We were both just glaring at each other. I was upset. Why would my best friend do this? Why would she take away my happiness? Does she know I'm already hurt enough?
Tons of questions were running through my mind. So I spoke: "W-why?" I stuttered between my words as I wiped the tears that was slowly releasing from my eyes. But all she gave me was...a laugh. So she didn't regret doing this? "Answer me Sharmaine! Why!" I screamed as I took a few steps towards her.
She shook her head and backed away from me. "You wanna know why? He took you away from me!"
I arced an eyebrow at her. What does she mean by that? As I opened my mouth to respond, she continued. "Ever since Mr. Fuller arrived in your life, you didn't pay much close attention to me! Nor Joe! And you ask me why?" She yelled as she glared at me like I was her sick enemy.
"Sharmaine he never stole-" Before I could finish, I felt a sharp sting on my cheeks. I slowly turned my head towards her and scowled. She slapped me. My expression dried as I stared at her in disbelief.
"Don't you dare say Mr. Fuller didn't stole you away from me, cause clearly he did! We never spent much time together, we never hanged out like we used to! Now tell me Daphne, who do you choose huh? Me or that sick bastard teacher of yours?"
"I.." I was out of words. Was she seriously making me choose between him and her? She should support me no matter what! She shouldn't have a problem with this!
Sharmaine chuckled and threw her hands up in the air. "I knew it. I knew you would choose him over me." She said as she placed her hand on the door knob and twisted it.
"Don't you dare walk away from me Sharmaine!"
"And what? What would you do huh? Can't you-"
"Shut up!" I yelled as I pushed her to the side. She stumbled backwards but managed to stand still."What about you huh?! What about the time you and Michael got together?! Since he came in your life, you wouldn't even spend time with me anymore! And yet I still forgave you! I still supported you! You wanna know why? Because you're my best friend!" I yelled making her flinch slightly.
But what she did after that made my heart break even more. This time, she brushed past me and walked out of the door. But before she made it out completely, she turned around and gave me a slight smile. "I'll tell the principal I was just joking. I don't want you to get in trouble.. and Daphne?" She asked as she turned her way around, her back facing me.
"Yeah?" I whispered.
I heard her sigh as she started walking away from me. "We're over."
[JORDAN's POV]
I stared at my classroom's ceiling. Who would bring a package to Daphne? It couldn't be Blake. There's no way its Blake.... But there's still a slight chance that Daphne might be in danger.
