Chapter 6 (Haru's POV)

The maid's chamber was at the very least twice the size of King Rin's bedroom. Which in my book is huge, but somehow all of the supplies packed into it seemed to make it feel as if I had just entered a peasant's attic. Young women encased in black robes expertly maneuvered their way through the room, every single one of them working so fiercely like their lives depended on it.It wouldn't surprise me if that was the case.
King Rin gave me a small nudge as an indication for me to move forward. I do so, while trying really hard not to trip over a large stand full of dust feathers. King Rin followed me closely, ready pounce on me if I decided to make a break for it.
I sighed and continued to tip toe around the random bags of items and sand dune sized stands full of cleaning supplies.
What this guy doesn't get about me is that I do not go with instinct. I plan. Long and clever plans that have a large amount of potential success hidden between the lines. How else could I become the Sahara's most successful and wanted criminal?
He may have caught me off guard just once but I swear I will take all this control he thinks he has over me and stuff it all down his throat. No one does what he did to me and walks away unpunished.
No. One.
I have already set part of my plan into place, by delaying his next sexual attack with the whole teary eye act followed by the "I just don't think I'll be able to take another round," quote I had read from a short girlish story I stole from this noble awhile back.
Now all I have to do is wait for the right opportunity to gain leverage on him and I would be free once again.
Wait no, scratch that. I would be free once again with a crown in my hand.
There is no way I am leaving this place until I get that crown. The children in the slums need me to succeed, and succeed I will.
Even if it kills me.
"Uh, Haru?" King Rin's voice interrupts my previous thoughtful daze, "This is Hotaru Akai, he is the head maid of this division and will be in charge of your training."
I looked over at the man who stood beside King Rin. He was around my age and height, wearing black robes like the women and a maroon sash across his chest. Both his hair and eyes were the color of chocolate which rewarded him a rather light and sweet vibe. With a closer look, I managed to detect levels of calculation within his eyes as he looked at me up and down. I could see why he was head maid of the department. He has a relieving prescience that is hard to find which was indeed mingled with a silent way of creative thinking.
Slightly, I bowed my head in his direction.
"I look forward to working with you Akai-san," I said as politely as I could while I gritted my teeth in humiliation.
It's for the kids, I convinced myself, It's for the people who have done nothing wrong.
"Ah! You don't have to bow your head for me," Akai-san chuckled awkwardly, "I'm nothing you should be wasting your honorifics on."
King Rin smirked a little at Akai-san's response and strolls over to the head maid like a cat in stealth mode before placing an arm around the boy's shoulders.
"Aw, come on Hotaru," Rin cooed, "Give yourself a little credit for all this, it ain't easy becoming the head in a department under the Matsuoka castle's roof."
I stood in front of the two guys awkwardly shifting my feet under me, uncomfortable with the sudden atmosphere King Rin created.
"I'm well aware of that, but it's still embarrassing to have someone show me this much respect," Akai-san placed a hand on the back of his neck and rubbed his skin sheepishly.
"Nah, spoil yourself a bit with his inexperience with stuff like this,"
I'm right here, you know.
"But King Rin I-"
"No buts, this is an order." King Rin grinned, satisfied with the defeated look on Akai-san's gentle featured face.
"As you wish my King," Akai-san bowed his head to King Rin and rolled his eyes.
"There we go now that, that is done I will be leaving him in your care. I expect you to be up to date on how this situation has been arranged. If he tries to run, you know what to do."
Still. Right. Here.
"Yes Sir," Akai-san lifted his head and gave King Rin a look that resembled to the look a loyal dog gives his owner.
Royalty and loyalty, two very troublesome things.
Ending the conversation on a mysterious note, King Rin glanced over in my direction before turning and leaving the room with the whole otherworldly power he seemed to possess clearing a straight path through the maids.
"I apologize if I made you uncomfortable with the King like that," Akai-san sighed, "He can get too comfy around his servants sometimes."
Too comfy, huh.
"Don't worry about that," I replied in the nicest tone I could give him, "I know he just likes to mess around, so there's no helping it."
Akai-san tilted his head and shot me a weird look.
"So you are not jealous?" He questioned.
"No, is there any reason for me to be jealous?" I asked, noticing the way Akai-san chews his bottom lip while he is thinking; noting that he seems to only chew half of it.
"Well I figured you guys are lovers or something,"
I felt my face turn from its' once healthy glow to a paper sheet white.
"What?" I grumbled, frozen to my spot with shock.
"Oh! Ah! Sorry! I don't mean to push you to talk about your relationships or anything like that. I just thought that your body language between each other was giving off this romantic feeling," Akai-san paused and took in what he said with a slightly pink face, "But I could be wrong! I mean what do I know, I'm just a servant! Ahahaha,"
I took in his blabbered out words for a few seconds and let my mind process them before answering.
"Well you aren't right," I looked away from Akai-san's embarrassed face,
"But in a way you are not wrong either."
