Chapter 10 (Rin's POV)

"Rin I'd like an explanation," Makoto looks at me through unyielding eyes.

Crap...

After Haru was knocked unconscious by Hotaru, a couple of my servants rushed in and placed him on a stretcher, bringing him to our medical room. The castle's doctor looked over him and soon assured us that there was no brain damage nor anything fatal for Haru. With that relief in mind, I was able to let my guard down a little.

Makoto and I are, now, sitting in newly placed chairs next to the Haru's bed, both rather tense with one another. It feels as if every motion we make is a threat directed at the other.

Dammit, this won't lead to anything good...

"You see, I found him by luck in an incident near the castle," I lie, averting my gaze elsewhere.

There's no way I can tell him what really went down...

"Rin, how many years do you think I have known you for? I can tell you are lying," Makoto sighs, "Well, I guess none of that matters. What matters is that Haru is back,"

"Right," I slide back in my chair, slightly relieved he let the matter go.

"So then you'll let him come back, right?" Makoto asks, leaning closer to Haru.

Wait...

"Come back where?" I question it, but I already know the answer.

"To my place of course," The tanned male places a hand on Haru's pale cheek gently.

His place.

I shoot up out of my chair and slap his hand away from Haru. Primal instinct floods out any previous thought and makes me shield the one I love with nothing more than possessive feelings.

"Rin, what are you doing?" An extremely surprised expression from Makoto brings me back to reality.

Oh shoot, what have I done?

"Oh, I, uh, was just thinking he might be hurt there too," I stammer, making such an obvious lie.

"On his cheek?" Tilting his head in confusion, Makoto looks over at Haru behind me and observes, "Oh, you're right, there is a scratch,"

I look over my shoulder and spot the scrape on his right cheek.

What a coincidence.

"I'll go get some supplies to fix that," I state, using this chance to leave the area.

Turning on the ball of my foot, I launch myself out of sight and rush over to the medic's store room. Snatching the gause, bandages, and alcohol, I crouch down near the bottom shelve and rest my head on my knee.

Calm down, I tell myself, If he finds out nothing good will come out of it.

"You'll let him come back, right?"

There is no way in hell I'm letting him go.

Slowly, I stand up and make my way back to the room. The supplies in my arms toss and turn, making me feel even more uneasy than I was before.

I have to find a way to tell him no.

I glance up and watch the curtains surrounding Haru's bed flutter from an nearby breeze of an open window. White cloth dances in the air, revealing a scene before me. A scene that I must take a double take on.

Makoto is out of his chair. No, that's not important. It's the reason he is out of his chair that is important. He is leaning over Haru as if he is ready to do something. Something that only I thought I wanted to do to Haru. He gets closer to Haru's face, and closer. I can feel a tight pain in my chest, followed by a wave of unbearable irritation.
