"So let me get this straight," I sigh, rubbing my forehead, "You were playing a card game and the person gave you a bet halfway through it?"

The Smart One, known to me as Rei Ryugazaki sits across from me, looking down at the floor in disgrace.

"Y-yes sir," The noble stutters, "He wanted me to prove that the labs in my castle were useful."

"And why did you agree to such an obvious trap?" I question, sighing.

"Because....." Rei looks up, "He was insulting you by saying you were an idiot to pick me as noble but," He falters and looks down, "I believe I only made it worse now."

"But Rei-chan," The Happy One, whom sits next to him smiles, "You proved him wrong, didn't you?"

Both Rei and I look at the blonde haired noble in utter confusion.

"Well I mean won't that type of explosion be useful for war?" He tilts his head.

"If only the public could see it that way," I sigh.

"I'm sorry for the sudden inconvenience," Rei bows his head, "If I had just been more careful...."

"There is no point in regretting it now," Straightening my back, I look over his bowed head, "I appreciate the sincerity within your apology but if we continue to think about the what ifs and buts we will get no where."

"Rin-chan is right," The Happy One looks over me with his pink eyes, "Let's come up with a plan to win the public's affection back for Rei-chan."

"Thank you Nagisa-kun," Rei smiles, "I am most grateful for you help in these dire times."

"No problem, Rei-chan"

It's like they don't need me at all.

I chuckle and start to think over different strategies; pondering over the possibilities.

"Wahhhhhh," Nagisa yawns, "We are finally done"

"King Rin," Rei looks at me with a slightly troubled expression.

"Yes?"

"Why didn't Makoto-san come to the meeting?" He looks down, worried, "Is he disappointed in me?"

"Ah," I sigh then say quietly, "I got into a fight with him."

"Eh?!" Nagisa's candy colored eyes widen, "Rin-chan and Makoto-chan fought?!"

"Was it because of my situation? You guys rarely fight." Rei bites his lip nervously. His fingers clash against one another in guilty habit.

I shake my head, "No, this fight was not over something you guys did."

"Then what was it about?"

"Well...."

Before I can answer Hotaru comes barging into the room.

"King Rin!"

Sighing, I turn to him.

Lucky break

"What is it Hotaru?"

"It's Haru...." He bites his lip.

"Haru?" Nagisa pipes up, "Who's Haru?"

"As I recall that name does sounds familiar" Rei takes his chin between his forefinger and thumb.

Shit

"He's a new maid of mine," I chuckle, doing my best to pull a normal face.

"Sir," Hotaru whispers into my ear, "We can't find him anywhere"

"What?" My eyes widen.

"Rin-chan is something wrong?" Nagisa tilts his head, looking at me with worried eyes.

"Ah it's nothing worth worrying about," Smiling, I turn back and whisper into Hotaru's ear, "Find him at all costs"

"Yes sir," Hotaru nods and heads out, calling in more maids.

"Rin-san are you sure something isnt wrong, you look troubled," Purple eyes observe my answer carefully.

"Yeah," Grazing the corner of my lip with my teeth, I cover the worried expression inside.

"I see," He replies curtly and nods.

"Come on Rei-chan," Nagisa grabs Rei's hand, "Let's go eat some cakes I'm starving"

The Smart One sighs and pushes his glasses up, "Nagisa you can't just eat desserts all day, let's eat something healthier."

With puffed out cheeks and big wide eyes, Nagisa pouts, "But Rei-chan-"

"No excuses," Rei cuts him off.

I sigh, watching the two in amusement.

If only Haru and I could be that close

Regret builds within my chest, making it tight.

If only.....

"What is it Nagisa?" Rei asks.

I look up to find that Nagisa had frozen in place, a somewhat serious look on his face.

"Did you guys hear that?" He looks down a hallway to our right, narrowing his eyes.

Both Rei and I look at each other and shake our heads.

"No we didn't" Confusion coats my voice.

"It sounded like a scream," Without any warning the blonde bolts down the hallway.

"Hey!" The noble and I follow in suit, looking utterly stumped.

Nagisa stumbles into the door at the very end of the hallway, wacking it open.

Rei pants and stands next to him, both freezing at the sight before their uniquely colored eyes. Almost tripping over my robes, I walk up and catch a glimpse at what has caught the two nobles vast attention.

Haru stands behind a maid, holding her close with a knife to her neck. All of the guards and maids are down on their knees, hands raised in the air.

"Where is he?" A cool, unfriendly voice emanates from Haru's lips, "Where is King Rin?!"

Not good

Slowly I back behind the doors, out of his sight.

"You two on your knees, hands in the air!"

I watch as Rei and Nagisa both do as they are told, not breaking eye contact with him.

"You both seem like you would know where he is" Haru's eyes examine the two wildly.

"No I do not," Rei answers sternly, "I am sorry"

"Me neither," Nagisa adds in a light, singsong voice.

"Lies, you both are wearing clothing that suits royalty. You have to know where King Rin is"

"I'm sorry, but-"

Bang!
