*3 days later*
My heart was filled with jealousy, sadness, and even a touch of guilt. Millions of thoughts were running through my brain.
Why did he have to go off with some other girl?
Does he not love me anymore?
What if this is all just a misunderstanding?
I rolled out of bed, happy not to be nauseous anymore and walked downstairs to get breakfast. Chelsea was sitting on the couch, lost in her phone. I poured a big bowl of cocoa puffs and walked over to the couch.
"How are you holding up?" Chelsea looked away from her phone at me shoveling puffs into my face.
"Not the best. My back hurts and I'm really drowsy." I rubbed my puffy eyes.
"Lis, I know your upset about Liza and Sam, you don't have to hide your feelings in front of me." Chelsea's eyes softened.
I felt numb.
My mother walked down the stairs and came into the living room. Their flight was delayed and they got in only at 4 o'clock in the morning. "Morning you guys." She rubbed her eyes.
"Morning mom." We said at the same time.
"Oh my, Lissie. You've gotten so big!" She let out a small gasp.
"Wow mom, that's so nice." I rolled my eyes in a playful mood.
"Oh you know I didn't mean it like that." She giggled. "When was your last appointment?" She walked around the kitchen island.
"A few days or so?" I shrugged. I had been in one of the best moods ever since the whole mall situation went down.
"Do you know what you are having?" My mother came around and plopped down in the chair adjacent to me.
"TWIN GIRLS!!!!" Chelsea squealed loudly. My mom covered her mouth in shock.
"Felicity! I've never been so happy to become a grandma!"
"You make it sound like you have other grand kids and I'm not the first to give you grand babies." I chuckled.
"Aww you know what I mean." My father walked down the stairs dressed in a black suit.
"Hey dad." Chelsea smiled and my father looked at her sullenly.
"Hello my daughters." He said in an undertone.
"Dad, what's wrong?" My look of confusion was followed by my mother's brow furrowing.
"I've just been dealing with some stuff..." He went back to buttering his toast.
"Jim, love, what's bugging you?" My mom patted his shoulder.
"I got a phone call from an unknown number this morning.... And when I answered I heard a voice that was all too familiar..." My father trailed and my blood ran cold. It was Eliza and I knew that, but I prayed that my father wouldn't tell my mom who.
"And who was it dear?" My mother adjusted her glasses on her face.
"Our daughter." My father looked up at my mother consolingly. "Margaret. My little girl called me for the first time in 4 years and she wants to come over to see how the family is doing." My father could barely contain his excitement and his sadness and he was shaking.
"Oh my!" My mom threw her arms around my father and my dad picked her up and twirled her around the kitchen. "I'm gonna see my little girl for the first time in 4 years!" But even through my mother's excitement, I could tell that she wasn't entirely happy about the situation.
