I don't remember much from my first day in the lake house. I was mainly laid in my bed thinking of how hard, or better, how impossible it would be for me to incorporate in my new school. I wasn't social person, and I was usually anxious when I was in the middle of a big crowd. Without any attempt I managed to be the center of the attention. And when I was in a girl's set, oh, I'm still trying to forget the last time I saw Talia. It's so pathetic. Girls always talk about boys, shopping , and many other minute and childish things.
Everyone said that I was different. So I was! I never fitted with the crowd I was mostly alone. That's why I had my trees. Every day after the torture of the school I was going to meet Simon. I could talk to him. He could understand me. I knew that he didn't need to talk. I knew that he could hear me.
I used to spend the biggest amount of my day there my parents never gave enough meaning to it so they, thankfully , did not bother me.After this long return from the past I opened my eyes. 7:00 a.m.
The alarm was ready to ring but I stood there waiting for it.
My parents and Aidan were having breakfast. I could hear the sound of the knives and the glasses. Irritating. The used to call me every morning a number of times before they make me have breakfast , but not anymore. One time is more than enough, despite that nothing could get me out of my room this morning. " I wish I could be a prisoner in here".
I looked around. Our stuff had been already placed in our rooms, so it wasn't empty, just dim, as I liked it.I headed to the mirror. I'd heard that when you move to a different place the place changes you. I guess I was different in that part as well. Nothing was changed.
I brushed my matted hair with paying attention to my new purple extensions. I stayed there looking myself in the mirror. I was a normal girl, not too short ,neither too tall. Up to 53 kilos with dark up to the bottom of my shoulders hair and my eyes were green with brown stripes. A little tired from the restless sleep, but still the same eyes."Noting special" I said. " I won't be a target, they won't notice me at all ,I'm beyond normal."My self-confidence wasn't my strong point.
I chose a simple clothing for today. A black t-shirt, my favourite pair of jeans ,all stars and a hoody jacket. I wasn't keen on with the weather so I was cautious.
I took a deep breath; I felt the air flood in my whole body. As I walked out of my room I saw Aidan jumping through the superfluous house that we now had.
"Aidan, is this necessary? Don't you think that you're old enough?"
"Still, I'm younger than you" He said with an ironic smile. We usually tease each other. No one of us get irritated.
"Yeah, whatever. Are you ready to go little rabbit?" I was trying to tease him more.
"Let's take something for launch" he grabbed an apple and he threw it at me. Clumsy as I was it slept through my hands.
" That's a pity Angelia now you have to pay for my food" said and left the house chuckling. His move was totally deliberated."Mom, Dad we're leaving". We both said
"Drive carefully" it sounded more like a warning.
"Let me drive Aidan!" I said as I took the car keys of his hand
"You're annoying" he grumbled
"Yes but I'm still paying for your launch at school" I said with a strict tune on my voice. I didn't want him to do stupid things with cars. He wasn't ready yet!
It wasn't difficult for us to find the school. We only had to follow the road and the signs. When we reached to the main land the first thing we had to do was to find the administrative department to register our papers. Aidan was already out observing the building, and I was trying to catch my breath. I finally moved my hand and I opened the door. Everyone gazed at my car. It was a deep purple Citroen DS3 and relatively new-it was a gift for my 17th Birthday in June.
My goal was not to be the centre of attention but I had obviously failed. After we gave our registration papers to the headmaster and then, until the beginning of the first hour ,I listened to music. I didn't want to hear others talking, it would make me more anxious than I already was. I couldn't stand in the hallway due to it being so crowded. "I'll never get used to it" So I decided to go to my classroom to find a seat and to escape being in plain view.
"We need new members in Diptera, because..." A small group in the back of the class stopped talking and stared at me angrily. I didn't understand what they were talking about but I felt a bit scared by the looks on their faces. Their eyes were not normal. They had inhuman sparkles and I think they had weird colors. I didn't get the time to see much of them because it would have been weird staring at them for a long time. After all, I didn't even know them.During our way back home, I couldn't hear to what Aidan had to say about his first day. I was totally absorbed by the thought of these bizarre eyes staring at me the whole time.
