Elena's POV

I woke up to the light beaming through the gap in the curtains, the soft chirps of the birds outside and, of course, Stefan's arms wrapped around my body. There was literally no way to describe the effect he had on me. It was like you wake up thankful that you had that one person in your life every single day. I was so glad that after the last few months of pure agony, I was finally able to enjoy the mornings again. A new day brought new adventures and possibilities, ones that I now looked forward to. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only thing I had on my mind, I felt different this morning, and not in a good way. I had woken up with the most non-vampire-like symptoms ever: a headache and a stomach ache. With every passing second I felt the pain getting worse and worse, to the point where I was wincing in pain. I had to bite my lip to stop myself from gasping. Luckily, Stefan had started to wake up and instinctively tightened his comforting embrace around me. Despite the fact that his embrace made me feel a little better, the pain was still unbearable. Stefan noticed this, obviously judging by the tenseness of my body.
"Baby, what's wrong?" he asked concerned whilst gently turning me around to face him. I lifted my hands, which were covering my pain-filled face, and looked at his beautiful, but worried face.
"I don't know, it's just my head. It feels like someone is repeatedly hitting my head," I said. He studied my face anxiously before he gently took his hand and placed it directly onto my forehead, his touch was so soothing.
"You are a little warm. Do you feel ill or anything?" he asked, trying to remain as calm as possible.
"I feel sick, like I could-," I started but couldn't finish due to the wave of sickness I felt rush through me. Next thing I knew I was leaning over the toilet seat, throwing up my entire stomach's contents. Immediately, Stefan was by my side, tying my hair in a low ponytail and gently rubbing my back. "That's it, it's okay baby," he consoled as I continued to throw up.
About a minute passed before the sickness had finally settled and I was able to lift my head up.
"I don't think I'll be going into uni today." I said with the best laugh I could manage.
"I don't think so either," he replied as he gently moved me onto his lap. I rested my head in his chest, and just sank into his embrace. Within seconds, I felt better, but I still couldn't push the issue of being sick out of my mind. It wasn't normal for vampires to be sick, was it?
My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of Isabella's whimpers, indicating that she wanted to get up.
"I'll get her whilst you go lie down," he said as we both stood up. As the gentlemen he is, he guided me towards the bed, eased me down and tucked me in under the covers. He placed a gentle kiss on my forehead before he left to get Isabella. Shortly after, he returned with our beautiful, smiling daughter in his arms. The sight of them both made me smile. Stefan placed her on the bed, allowing her to roam about the bed, and climb on me. Stefan sat beside me on the bed and gently rubbed his thumb along my forehead. "How you feeling now?" His tone was quiet and soothing.
"I'm tired," I said, giving a small smile of appreciation. His touch felt so good and it was always the best thing to have when you were ill.
"Are you going to be okay when I take Isabella to her play group?" he asked whilst moving a few stray strands of hair away from my face.
"I'll be fine. Don't worry about me." I smiled. He simply smiled back and kissed my forehead.

Stefan's POV

Once I had finished getting dressed, I got Isabella dressed and strapped her into the mobile car seat. Elena was lying on the sofa in the living room so once Isabella was secure, I carried her over to say goodbye to Elena.
"Are you sure you'll be alright?" I questioned as I entered the living room. I saw her head turn around as she gave a small laugh.
"Yes, I'll be okay. But if I need you, I'll call you," she replied as she snuggled back down into the blankets.
"Okay, just making sure. I love you." I said, leaning down to kiss her lips. Her lips were so soft, I just wanted to stay with her all day. Once our lips parted we both smiled.
"I love you too," she replied. Hearing those words always brought shivers down my spine.
"I'll see you in a little while," I said as I walked over to the door.
"Bye. Have fun." I heard her call back before I shut the door behind me. I really didn't want to leave her alone. It killed me just to leave her on a normal day but especially since she was ill, it was even harder to leave.
Trying to put that behind me, I ignited the engine and drove to Isabella's play group.
