Elena's POV

I woke up to a kiss on my forehead, which is the expected for me on a week day. Stefan always leaves for work at an earlier time in the morning than I get up at. Since Isabella's been waking up later over the last couple of weeks, which results in me being able to sleep for longer in the mornings. Stefan and I also get very needed lie-ins at the weekends.
"Sorry honey, I didn't mean to wake you. I'll see you at 6:30, I love you," he whispered. He was slightly leaning over me; one of his hands resting against the bed, and the other lightly touching my stomach.
"I love you too," I whispered back, still being half asleep. He smiled and connected our lips for a kiss that, he knew, would make me want more. Unfortunately, it ended and within the next few seconds he was out of the bedroom, shutting the door quietly behind him. I always missed him when he went to work. He has to be there for seven and he doesn't finish until about 6:15 pm, so I only really get to be with him in the evenings. By then, we're both exhausted and never feel like doing much. However, being at home all day meant that I've been able to spend lots of time with Isabella. She's been getting excited for the arrival of her little sister, and she's definitely understanding it more. Stefan and I took her baby shopping and she seemed to really enjoy it, she liked toddling around and picking up little things for babies. We tried to explain it simply to her since my stomach has been growing and she seemed confused by this. I didn't actually know if she understood anything we've talked about but the doctors say that she was doing absolutely fine, so I didn't need to worry. I knew Stefan worries about her; he's got the protective fatherly trait which makes him worry about anything related to Isabella. He's been the best dad any child could ask for and I've said it a lot but it's true. I've tried to tell him this as much as I can, to simply reassure him that he's doing an amazing job of being a father. It breaks my heart as he generally believes that he's not a good dad, but I was glad when the whole family disagreed with him.
I looked over at my alarm clock on the bed side table to see it was 6:46 am, which meant I had a while before Isabella would wake up. So, naturally, I ended up drifting back off to sleep.
I woke up about an hour later, got out of bed and was greeted by a very excited Isabella. She was lying down in her bed and giggling to herself.
"Morning honey," I said, seeing as her leafy green eyes lit up at the sound of my voice. I gently lifted her off her bed and brought her back to mine.
"Mumma!" She gleamed as she laid her cheek against my own, a cheeky smile on her face.
"Dada." She stated as she ran her little fingers through my hair.
"Dada's at work, honey," I replied with a shake of my head. My heart sank when I saw her smile flip upside down into a frown, she looked so disappointed.
"It's okay, you can play with mummy," I said, taking a loose strand of hair and tucking it behind her ear. She curled up closer to me, allowing me to wrap my arms around her. Moments like these with Isabella are what make my day better. Isabella could always take away all of my bad thoughts with just one look.
We lied in bed together for a little longer whilst I slowly ran my fingers through her soft, mousy brown hair. Over the past few months her hair colour has become a little darker than what it used to be. Isabella just played with the locket Stefan bought me for my 20th birthday, she's always been fascinated with it. I filled the last two photos, one with Stefan and I, and the other with all three of us. When our little girl is born we're going to take another of all four of us, so I'll put that one in instead.
I was brought out of my thoughts by Isabella stirring and wiggling around, telling me that she wanted to get up.
"Come on baba, let's get up," I said as I got out of bed. Isabella lifted her arms and stood on the tip of her toes, making me sigh in amusement and lift her up. I carried her downstairs and placed her in the high chair so that I could make breakfast. Since she's been a good girl all week I decided that pancakes would be a special treat to have, plus I've been craving them for days. Throughout the whole pancake making process all you could hear was Isabella babbling on in the background, as well as the occasional banging sound as she dropped her beaker on the floor. I smiled to myself as I plated up the pancakes. I sliced Isabella's pancakes into small pieces and placed them on her tray. She immediately dug into her food, not wanting to waste a second. I lightly kissed the top of her head, taking in her cute, baby scent. I loved her so much, I couldn't explain how much I did since it was more than any word or number can describe. She brings out the best in us.
