{Skylar's POV}

"We should walk down to the beach."

I pondered on that sentence. "Sure." I texted my mom telling her that we went out for a walk. "What are you looking at?" I asked Peyton who looked like she was looking for something. She kept looking across the street for some reason.

There were these two boys who started crossing the street towards us. "These boys started calling us over." she said pointing to them. They looked about the same age as us.

"Hah that's funny, he kind of looks like Hayes." I said jokingly, because there is no way I could ever cross paths with him again. Peyton looked at me. "Sky, look closer."

I took another glance and they got closer and closer to us. I freaked out. My stomach did somersaults. It really was the Hayes Grier. I screamed inside, and stayed calm on the outside. I fixed my hair, because I wouldn't want to embarrass myself in front of someone famous.

They were soon so close to us, we could almost make eye contact. My heart stopped when his friend spoke. "So! You must be Skylar!" Hayes' friend said. "Yeah that's me." I said, slightly creeped out and excited at the same time because they actually knew my name.

"And you must be Hayes and his friend?" Peyton asked. She was totally checking him out. "Ryan Spencer." he said getting down on one knee and putting out his hand for her to shake.

I looked over at Hayes as he rolled his eyes. "Ry, that's not a very good first impression, you are coming off as creepy." Hayes said tapping Ryan on the shoulder. I smiled and a giggle slipped out.

"What brings you two to this tiny town?" Peyton asked in confusion. Ryan and Hayes looked at each other. "Uhh-" Hayes was cut off by Ryan, "We may or may not have stalk-" Hayes covered his mouth shouting, "My grandma lives here!!"

"Ohh, kay then." Peyton said awkwardly. "Well we were just gonna walk down to the beach, want to join?" I asked them, breaking the awkward silence. I was still nervous and shocked that I was actually having a conversation with Hayes Grier.

Hayes and Ryan exchanged glances. "Sure!" Ryan said, as we started walking down to the beach. This day had just gotten 10000 times better.

I walked next to Hayes and Peyton next to Ryan. "So do you guys live in California?" Peyton asked. "Yup, San Diego." Ryan said. "Cool, thats like ten minutes away." she said back. Peyton looked really into Ryan, it was cute. Peyton and Ryan engaged in their own conversation.

"So, your grandma doesn't really live here, right?" I said. He shook his head and laughed. "This was all Ryan's idea, I swear." he said, putting his hands up in surrender. "Okay, so how long are you on tour?" I asked him. "Well you lucked out, today was my last tour date of the year." He told me. I still felt butterflies when he talked to me.

"But enough about me, what about you?" he asked me, sounding perfectly sweet. "Well today is my birthday. That's about it." I said. "Really?! Why didn't you say anything! Cause me and Ryan can sing you our 8 verse opera of happy birthday if you wan-" I cut him off laughing. "I think I'm good." I said still giggling.

"Well, we can have a birthday bonfire instead." he said pointing to a fire pit on the sand. "I have a couple matches in my purse," Peyton said as Ryan cut her off, "Why the heck do you have matches in your purse?" Hayes and I started laughing.

Peyton reached into his pocket, and I gave her a look. She pulled out matches. "Why the heck do you have them in your pocket?" She said laughing. "Just in case there's any moments like this, where we actually need them." He said. They were perfect for each other. "That is the same reason I keep them in my purse." she said. What a bunch of weirdos.

They tried to light the fire and it didn't work. "We can go look for trash or something to help light the fire." Hayes said. When he said we, I realized he was referring to me. "Sure!" Peyton said and shooed us away. We started walking away, closer to the shoreline.

{Hayes' POV}

Finally, I could be alone with Skylar. She was so beautiful, and I am so nervous. I want to tell her how I feel, but I'm scared she doesn't feel the same way. I slowly built up the courage, with my heart almost beating out of my chest.

"Umm, can I tell you something?" I asked Skylar, no longer walking. "Sure, anything." She said looking at me and smiling. She was so beautiful. I couldn't say it. "I, uh, I-" If I couldn't say it, I was just going to have to show her. I stepped closer to her, and our shoulders brushed together. I felt scared, but ready for this moment. I leaned in, our faces inches apart. I have her a look that asked if it was okay. She nodded her head, and I closed the gap.

Our lips crashed together, and my hand slipped around her waist. I smiled, and she giggled. "Happy birthday." I said in between kisses. "I think that's better than you and Ryan's happy birthday opera." she whispered. I laughed. I wanted this moment to last forever. I pecked her lips again and she hugged me. She laid her head on my shoulder and I held her there. She smelled good. This was the perfect end to a perfect day.
