Chapter 10: Confused

I keep pacing in my apartment, tugging at my hair. Tris. She's dead. How can she be here? I slumped on the couch and buried my face in my hands.

God, I'm so confused. I wipe the tears that is flowing freely down my face and head to Zeke's apartment.

I walk down the corridors with both of my hands in my pockets.

I reach Zeke's apartment and knocked loudly on his door.

"Zeke, I---" I was cut off by the person who opened the door. It wasn't Zeke or Shauna.

Uriah.

I freeze at the sight of him. How can he be here? How can they be here? God, I must be hallucinating. I remembered I haven't eaten anything yesterday, and this morning.

"Hey, Four." He said and flashed a cheeky grin. My feet are still planted on the floor, my jaw wide open.

"Uri, Who is it?" I hear a female voice asks, walking to the door.

"Four?"

Marlene.

Marlene's alive.

Uriah.

Tris.

"Hey, EZEKIEL!!!!" Uriah shouts. "Number boy's here!"

"Hey Four." Zeke said with a wide smile.

I'm still confused of what's happening, and I stand there still and frozen.

"Come in." He said and pulled me in his apartment.

"H-how-- W-what?" That's all I managed to say. My hear is pounding a billion miles faster.

"I know it's confusing. But please just let them explain." Zeke said and I turn my gaze to Uriah.

He started talking about how they were never really dead and Tris was injected a paralyzing serum to make us think that she's dead and David has been using her as a test subject for two years to create a serum that makes the dead back to life.

Uriah also said that when Tris tried to escape, they used him and the others to keeps her from running away, and after that David and his lackeys used her as a punching bag. I feel my hand clench into fists.

When Tris was returned to her cell the gang managed to kick the guards down. They made a plan to escape and finally returned here in Dauntless.

I was still stunned, but I managed to pull myself together. Without hesitation, I stand up and walk out of Zeke's apartment.

"Four! Where are you going?" I hear them call after me.

"I need to find her."
