Skylar's POV

It's been two weeks since halloween, and two weeks of constant detentions. At the end of each detention with Professor Madden, she asks me about my decision. I continue to pull pranks on everybody with the help of Riley, Lily and Del. I roll off of the bed and onto the floor. I just reach up and grab a pillow and the blanket, so I can fall back asleep on the floor. I slowly get off of the floor and change quickly into a green tank top that says cute but psycho on it with ripped jeans and black sneakers and a white throw over. I sling my bag over my shoulders and head out of the room and towards the hall. On my walk there, I find Matthews going somewhere and looks like he doesn't want to be followed. So naturally, I do just that and put on the invisible charm.

He heads down a hallway that looks as if it has never been used and into a stuff looking room. I slip in behind him before he can close the door. A man with a black hood stands facing the window so that I can't see his hood.

"Have you captured her yet?" The man asks.

"No, she doesn't trust me. I've tried everything, even slipped her a potion!" The man nods his head.

"What kind?" He asks.

"Doesn't matter now does it?" Shit. I wanted to know!

"What about the Headmaster? Does he sense anything?"

"I think he thinks something is going on, but he doesn't have any proof!" The man nods his head again.

"Make sure that the girl figures out who her parents are! Give her the damn book if you have to!"

"Brown doesn't even trust me, she won't take anything from me since I messed with her new friend Mayberry! I even told her that me and Mayberry were cousins, but that didn't even phase her!" Their talking about me...

"She must get that from her parents! The ability to sense if someone is trustable or not."

"She is the exact replica of her mother, only has her fathers eyes!" I wanted to scream out right then and there, demanding them to tell me their names! But I stay quiet, not wanting to blow my cover. The man shakes his head back and forth, as if he is in deep thought.

"I'll email you our next meeting, and I want more info on the girl."

"Yes Sir." With that, Matthew turns and walks out the door. I slip out and run towards the Library. Taking the spell off when I get away from Matthew. I head through the doors and start searching for any records of my parents. I keep going through all of the shelves. A hand rests on my shoulder and I nearly jump out of my skin. I turn around and see who it is.

"What do you want Matthew!" I snap at him. Just the person I was looking for! Note the sarcasm. He holds up his hands in surrender and takes a step back.

"I was just wondering what you were looking up?" I scowl at him

"That would be none of your concern!"

"I'll just be going then." He turns to walk away, but suddenly pulls out a book and leaves it on the shelf. With that, he just walks away. Somehow knowing that my curiosity will get the best of me, and it does. I walk up to the book and blow on it. A tree is on the cover on it and the pages are faded and yellow. Underneath the tree are the words, patebit tum quod latuit. It is in latin and means that which is hidden will shall be revealed. I stare at it in shock. I have never been able to speak latin until now...

Somehow knowing what to do, I slide my finger down the the edge of book and it snaps open. The Brown family and history! Is on the cover page of the book in neat handwriting. The pages are hard from the use that they have endured, but are also very fragile. I turn the page and see my family tree. It goes on for many pages after that. I turn the pages again and again, but only come across a small passage that is on my parents.

Ann Blackwood married to John Brown in 1994. Right after their wedding, they went into hiding. Nobody knows where they went except for two people. Amanda Bloom, now known as Amanda Adams and the current Headmaster Ben Anderson. It is rumored that Ann and John Brown had a child right before they died. Only one person was present for the birth of the child and the death of the Browns. If the child was born and is still alive, he/she is in a lot of danger. That child is the last descendant of the Browns and because of that is a big target for many bad people.

If anybody has any where about's of the child should not tell anybody, and protect the child with your life, for the child may be the last hope to get rid of all or most of all the dark forces that will come our way.

There are more entries that are in there. Some in the same handwriting, but most of them are in ink. All of the ones in ink have different handwriting. I push that thought out of my mind and start the long walk to the hall for breakfast.

"I know you guys missed me!" I want to yell it, but I can't seem to find my voice. I walked quietly over to the table and sat down. I began to eat without talking at all. I slowly pick apart my toast, thinking about the journal. I drop my piece of toast and stare out of the window. Oblivious to the surrounding noise and people leaving to get to class on time.

Ryans POV

I watch as Sky comes through the door. It looks like she wants to say something, but decides against it. Her face is pale and her eyes look like they are dead. They no longer have the spark that they usually do. The hall is in restless chatter and fills up the hall. Sky just sits down on the bench and picks at a piece of toast, but then drops it not two seconds later. I study her as she looks out the window. Her eyes unseeing, like she is in deep thought, that she doesn't see anything or hear anything. People around us start leaving. The teachers and the Headmaster get up and leave to go to their classes. The Headmaster looks over at me and the frowns when he sees Sky looking off into space. He shakes his head as if he is just clearing a thought and then exits the room, shutting the doors behind him.

I go over and sit next to Sky. I put my hand on her shoulder and she immediately tenses. Her eyes go a bit wide, then back to normal when she realizes that its me, but they no longer have that sparkle that they usually have. "Skylar," I say quietly. She just reaches into the bag and pulls out an old looking journal. She opens it and turns it to the last page that was written on and shoves it under my nose.

I read it quickly and then look at her. She doesn't meet my gaze, but just looks at her hands which she is fidgeting with. "Skylar, look at me!" She shakes her head. I pull her chin up so that she meets my gaze. She holds it for a second, but then looks down. "Look at me in the eyes," My voice is soothing, like I'm coaxing a frightened animal to come out. She looks up at me slowly.

"I'm that girl!" She says slowly, as if she is speaking for the first time.

"I know that now. But you aren't any different then you used to be when you woke up this morning. Only a little bit wiser!" She just nods and puts the book back in her bag. She then tackles me in a hug and knocks us both off of the bench and onto the floor. I roll over and see that she is shaking and has tears rolling down her face, she opens her mouth and her beautiful laugh comes out. I smile and shake my head. That's my girl! I think to myself.
