*Tobias*
On the train, Tris is looking pensive again, sitting next to me, her shoulder against mine.
After a few minutes, she stands up and walks over to Zeke, leaning to whisper something in his ear. He looks up at me, grin widening. He wraps her in a one arm hug, and she gives him a sisterly kiss on the cheek.
She then sits over by Christina and slumps against her. Christina whispers something to her, starting a discussion. Meanwhile, Zeke is whispering something to Shauna and Amar, who spreads it to Matthew and Caleb. It all lasts a minute, and when they are quiet, I come over and lean against the wall next to Tris.
She hugs Christina with her opposite arm, stands, and looks up at me expectantly, with wide innocent eyes, her mouth straight, as if nothing happened.
"Are you planning something?" I ask, a smile spreading across my face.
The corner of her mouth twitches, just a bit, but she keeps her eyes on mine.
"Maybe." She stretches out the word.
I kiss her forehead and shake my head, still smiling, but don't press. I go to the door of the car to watch the passing city with the sound of shuffling and whispers behind me.
As I start to see the Dauntless compound in the distance, Tris appears at shoulder, Christina behind her.
We are all quiet as the train approaches the roof. I close my eyes as I remember jumping onto it, the day I chose Dauntless.
Tris' arm brushes mine and there is a thump in front of me. I open my eyes just as Christina jumps and joins Tris, stumbling on the gravel.
I laugh and jump, somehow knowing they want me to follow. They keep walking, laughing and talking, a few yards ahead of me. Together they disappear over the edge of the roof, and I am obligated to follow. After the Hancock building's height and my own buzzing thoughts, I don't think as I jump. I pull myself out of the net and hear the dynamic duo farther away from me than before. I can't see them in the dark, but the conversations stop and 1 pair of footsteps splits away. A door opens and the light spilling into the corridor outlines a blonde figure, and I follow Tris into the pit.
Our footsteps echo in the chasm, and I realize how much I miss this place. Just like the streets around the Hancock building, a few people are walking around. Some people chose to come and live here after the reset, though some parts, like the Pire, weren't touched, left alone to represent what used to be. After a moment, I start to jog to catch up with her, but she starts to jog too. So her staying in front is deliberate.
It's then that I realize where we're headed: the fear landscape room.
When we get there, the black box is next to the door. Through the window of the observation room, I see Amar fixing the last electrode to Christina's forehead so she is ready to watch.
Tris takes a syringe, one of two, out of the box, and turns as I reach her. We inject each other like we did so long ago, and I offer her my hand. Her fingers slide in mine, and we walk into the room together.
~*~
She bounces on the balls of her feet, and her breaths are a bit quicker than normal.
A landscape forms and replaces the graffiti with a field of grass under a green sky. It's still as beautiful and eerie as it was when I saw her face this in stage 2 of initiation. I look around, taking it in until Tris winces to my right. One of the large birds, the crows, has sunken it's talons into her shoulder.
A gun appears in her hand and I create one in mine. It is one of the Bureau guns, the one I saw the guard holding that I saw the first time we entered the Bureau. The one I thought about how they would shoot, as if you can feel the deadly power in them just by curling your finger around the trigger.
