Chapter 9

"How can you sleep.?" My mom questioned and I was up by the sudden yell.
"I was just meditating!" I tried knowing she wouldn't buy it.
"You can't even lie.!" She said and this reminded me not of sky...but Steve. I smiled to myself thinking about him.

"You like him,don't you.?" She enquired curling the ends of my hair and I realised that I said that out loud.
"What makes you think that?" I questioned rashly turning back and that stupid burning instrument peeled the skin off my ear.
"Mom..mom.that hurts.!" I ended up yelling in pain. At least it diverted the impossible topic.
She applied some yellowish cream on my ear and blowed on it. I could easily sleep if she continues to blow like that.

My mom finished my curls and decided to leave and I smiled happily that I could watch some television. She walked till the door and turned back to find me more relaxed than I'm supposed to be.
"You won't even get ready,will you?" She said vexed with her irresponsible non-glamorous teenage daughter.
"I will..I'm just a little tired." I said with a gloomy face. Health card must work..?
"Take your own time honey.!" She said giving me a caring look and left. See..it works..if it's my mom .!
I shuffled through all the channels and finally settled with 'The Simpsons'.
'You should have told me that you were tired.!' - Steve texted. Why mom?..why.?
'I'm ok now.! I'll be there in 10' - I replied and walked to the closet to wear my new dress.
'Try to look like a girl' - Steve texted while I was getting down the stairs. The challenge is so on Mr. Steve Cohen.

I rushed back my room and opened the cosmetic kit that my mom left in my room so that I could get ready for the amazing party she had arranged.

I put on some pink shaded blush and a dull brown coloured lipstick. I tried some eye makeup. I felt like I was an expert in eye shading because it looked so creative..so blue..
so amazing. The mascara made my eyes look bigger. My thick eyebrows looked even thicker, thanks to the beautician,remember me to go punch her right in the middle of the face.
I looked at myself in the mirror after what felt like years and smiled at myself. I do clean up well..thanks to no one.

Feeling confident with the way I look, I walked down into conjoined lawn behind both (Steve and I) of our houses.

I first saw my hyper excited mother talking animatedly about her recent shopping, to which Annabeth (Steve's mom) was giving equally animated reactions. Then I saw my father talking on his phone. Whoever it was on the other side wasn't satisfying my dad at all. I could see that in his face.

"Blaze.! Blaze.! To your right.!" I searched at the mention of my name. Far away to my right with a handsome guy, Stace stood like a model with a drink in her hands.
"Come here.?" She yelled again after she noticed that I found them.
"You're looking pretty.!" Stace said hugging me.
"Thanks! You look pretty too.!" I said my eyes searching for the sexist.
"Hey there.! Someone isn't going home alone?" Daisy commented looking at me and I smiled mouthing a 'thank you'.
"Are you searching for someone.?" The shy guy beside Stace spoke.
"Oh sorry..meet Mike..my boyfriend.!" Stace replied holding Mike's hand without letting me reply.
Mike smiled and just before he was about to say something
"She is Blaze..She is one my close friends and also Steve's." Stace replied hurriedly. Mike and I smiled uncomfortably.

"Hey sweetheart!" A voice said from behind and who else can it be.
"Where were you all this while.? I missed you!" Daisy almost jumped on him.
"I slept.!" He shrugged and finally looked at me..the attractive me!
"You look like an angel.!" He said widening his eyes and I blushed..a genuine blush. There was a time when I constantly blushed when I was with sky..that tasteless jerk.

"Thanks!" I muttered still blushing.
"How could you sleep.?" Daisy asked turning his face towards her.
"People sleep when they are sleepy!" He shrugged again and she chuckled.
What's with the shrugging..?
