Maddie's POV:
I sigh and quickly run to the kitchen to grab a few towel for my arm and Sam's leg. I was still bleeding quite a lot and, even though he didn't say so, I knew Sam was obviously in pain too. I come back to find Sam and my mom sitting on the couch, well Sam was on the floor because of his leg, talking about what happened. Walking silently over, not making eye contact with my mom, I take a towel and wrap it carefully around Sam's leg. He let out a small cry, but kept talking.
Once I was done with Sam, I took the other towel and slowly pulled the teeshirt off my arm, revealing the huge gap. My whole forearm was completely gone and you could see 5-6 inches of the bone. Breathing heavily, I wrapped the other towel around the wound, covering it from view. Luckily, mom didn't see. A few tears leaked from my eyes, but I brushed them away. Don't you dare cry Maddie. There is no need to cry.
Samuel's POV:
I sit on the floor and begin explaining everything to Maddie's mom. To my surprise, she does not ask any questions, or interrupt me at all. She just sat and listened. She didn't question who I was or how me and Maddie had met. As I told her about Aspen, Daniel and Avis, Maddie came in with a damp towel and started tending to my leg. She cleaned it and put a new towel around it. She pressed on my leg, which, in turn, made me say ow. Her mom was unfazed by this, which I found interesting. I saw Maddie start working on her own arm and my eyes grew wide for a second when I saw how bad it was. She carefully cleaned it and wrapped a towel around her forearm. My heart jerked when I saw a few tears fall down her cheeks. No, I don't want her to cry. She needs to know it will be okay.
Crawling on one leg over to her, I pull her into my arms, whispering soothing things in her ear, wiping her tears away with my thumb. Maddie's mom stood up quickly and went into the kitchen, returning with a cellphone. I heard her dial 911.
"Yes, my daughter and her friend were both shot and need medical attention," she was saying, her voice not wavering. I was impressed by how calm she stayed. Most moms would have been freaking out, not sure what to do. I turned my attention back to Maddie. She was crying silently, not able to hold it in anymore.
"Shh Shh. It will be okay... I promise," I say, holding her close. She nodded, sitting up and wiping her eyes.
"I'm fine."
Maddie's POV:
After a few minutes, sirens could be heard and an ambulance pulled up to the front of the house. A few people in white burst through the door, pushing gurneys into the living room. One of them, the one who seemed to me in charge, looked around the room before his eyes fell on us.
"Wow," he said. "What happened to you two?" I rolled my eyes.
"Can you please just help us?!" begged, holding onto my arm, biting my lip from the pain. The men and women helped us into the gurneys and pushed us to the ambulance, my mom following in tow. They pushed us in the car and, climbing in, started to the hospital.
As we drove, I began feeling a bit light headed. I honestly wanted to fall asleep, so I closed my eyes when someone pinched me. My eyes snapped open.
"I am sorry Miss Evans, but you must stay awake," said a woman, looking to be in her late 40's. I groaned and lay back on the gurney. I didn't feel good. I could hear people talking to me but it sounded muffled. The last thing I knew was someone grabbed my hand before I blacked out.

Waking up, I squint my eyes at a very bright room. Everything was white. Wait. Did I die? Am I in heaven? A loud beeping sound pulls me back into reality and I see I am in a hospital bed. The beeping continues and I raise my hands to cover my ears but am shocked to see my arm. My arm. My real, intact arm. It looks like a normal arm apart from a scar running up my forearm. It looks normal. Looking at my other arm, I see a needle in my arm attached to a stand with clear stuff in it that seems to be going into my blood stream. I try to sit up, but the beeping gets louder so I am forced to lay down again.
A nurse hurries into the room and smiled when she sees me.
"Oh good!" she says, coming over to me. "You're awake." She goes and pressed a bunch of buttons and types furiously, thankfully making the beeping to stop. She comes and looks over me, checking me over.
"You seem to be okay! I will send your mom in and you can go home," she says, pulling the needle from my arm. "Just make sure to wear this sling for two weeks so your arm can heal." She unhooks me from everything and goes to leave the room.
"Wait," I say, stopping her before she leaves. "Is Sam okay?"
"Samuel Greenfield? Yes, he is okay. He is actually waiting for you in the waiting room with your mother." I lean back on the bed, sighing in relief. Sam is okay. Sam is okay. Sam is okay.
A few minutes later, mom comes in, a soft smile on her face.
"Mom..." I say, standing up carefully and walking to her. She hugged me tight, kissing my cheek.
"Here are some of your clothes to change into." she said, handing me a small pile of clothes. I smile when I see my favorite jeans.
"Where is Sam?"
"He is waiting in the lobby. Only one person was allowed back here." she replied. I nodded. Quickly, I got dressed then we left the hospital room. Going down to the lobby, I see Sam sitting in a chair, bouncing his leg rapidly. Smiling I go over to him.
"Sup dude?" I say. He looked up and smiled, giving me a hug. "You okay?" He nods.
"You okay?" he asks me. I smile and nod.
"Come on guys. Time to go home." said mom. We walk/crutch (I don't know how to say it, but Sam had crutches) back to the car and drive back home. Mom said that Sam could stay with us until he feels better and he accepted. We pulled up to the house and I laughed.
"What?" asked Sam, looking at me curiously.
"We forgot Jeremy." I say, pointing to Sam's car. Walking over, I looked int o see Jeremy passed out in the passenger seat of the car. Sam chuckles and unlocks the car, waking Jeremy up. "Dude, wake up." he said. Jeremy woke up, blinking a few times.
"What...?" he asked groggily. My mom smiled.
"Why don't we bring him inside and wake him up all the way." she said.

A Week Later
Waking up, I groan, realizing it is Monday. School. Me, Sam and Jeremy had stayed out of school for the past few days because of "family problems", but now it was time to go back. Getting dressed (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=177391950), I grabbed my back pack and ran out the door to school, not even bothering with breakfast. I burst through the doors to see the halls empty. Shoot. Im late. Walking quickly, I go to French, which happens to be my first class. Entering the room, I see all of my classmates, but no Miss Bulock.
I go to my desk and sit by Sam. He smiled at me and I smile back sheepishly.
"What happened to you two?" asked Star. "You look like you got hit with a bus." I shrug.
"Long story." I say, brushing the subject aside.
"Why is your arm so small?" asks a boy with longish black hair. I look up at him.
"Why is your nose so big?" I retort.
"Touche," the boy says, grinning. "I'm Shadow."
"Maddie," I say, smiling. A girl next to him smiles softly at me and I smile back. I think her name is Kikiomo but I'm not sure... Who knows.
Maybe they could be new friends.
Tada! Next chapter is up! Whatcha guys think?!?! Please tell us how you are liking the story! We have been working hard :). Enjoy the chapter! Peace out peeps!
