I had literally spent the past couple days in my room crying and watching all Nicholas Sparks movies on repeat. I had even called in sick to work too. I could tell aunt Jody was wondering what was going on and to avoid any questions that I didn't want to answer I just told her I was sick. I hadn't even talked to anyone. I had just isolated myself from everyone and anything. I reached over and picked up my phone and turned it on. 37 text messages from Katy. All asking how I was doing or if I was ok. Right when I broke things off with Danny I texted Katy first telling her everything. I ignored all the texts when I looked at the time that said 8:56. I had work today at 10 but I figured I would get up and get there early so that there was no awkward run in's with Danny. I pulled on a floral romper, threw my hair up into a cute bun and put on some natural looking makeup.
The walk to work was super quiet. One or two cars passed by me the entire way, which was peaceful. It was just my footsteps and the sounds of the waves making any kind of noise. I walked up the steps of The Crab, and went to grab for the door when I heard Danny's voice. "Shhh!" He laughed. Then I could hear some girls annoying giggle. Was that Lindsey? I pulled open the door and my mouth fell to the floor. There I saw Lindsey half undressed with Danny over top of her. I could feel the tears forming in my eyes. When the door slammed they both turned their gaze towards me. Danny looked ....hurt somewhat. Lindsey on the other hand was smirking. Bitch. It took everything inside of me not to go up to her and slap her. Him too. I thought he changed? Ha! I thought to myself. "And I thought you changed?" I shot his own insult that he gave me the other day back at him. Just changing it around. I didn't give them time to say anything; I just turned around and stormed out of the restaurant. I couldn't help it, I let all the tears that were forming in my eyes go. "Damnit!" I heard Danny yell from inside, then a slam. He probably punched something. I then heard The Crab door slam when I turned around Danny was running down the steps. "Kendall! Wait!" He cried. I'm pretty sure I ran too fast for him because he soon gave up and headed back. Now I was sobbing. Screw him and screw Lindsey. I hated them. I hated them both.
"I can't believe he would do that!" Katy cried. "Well actually...." She trailed off. When Danny headed back I called her and asked her to meet me at the Starbucks where we usually got together. "That slut!" She cried again. This time the whole store turning their heads towards us. "Shh!" I said. "Sorry." She whispered. "I know it's pretty soon and everything, but I know this really cool guy and I'm sure you two would really hit it off!" I rolled my eyes. Did it look like I was ready to hop back on to the dating wagon? Plus, I didn't do blind dates. "I don't think so Katy." She looked a little hurt. "Pleaseeeeeee Kendall! I promise you, you won't regret it!" I couldn't help but give in. Her begging was just too cute. "Fine." I said. "One date."
I had to say I looked pretty good for this date with Austin, the guy Katy was trying to set me up with. Partly I gave in to Katy because of her ridiculously cute begging but also because if Danny saw us together, he would flip. Why was I thinking about him when I was going out with another guy? I sighed. I was wearing this really cute hi-low skirted dress with perfect spiral curls in my hair and the perfect amount of makeup on. I was knocked out of my thoughts when I heard the doorbell ring. "Kendall! Austin's here!" My aunt shouted from downstairs. I checked myself over in the mirror one more time, grabbed my purse and headed downstairs.
I had to say Austin was really cute, and he was a gentleman. He came to the door, brought me roses and even opened the car door for me. I was shocked. No one had ever done this for me before. "Where are we going?" I asked while we headed down a road I had never seen before. "Carl's. It's really good there." He said with a smile. I had to say, Katy hooked me up with a really good guy. He was interested in everything I was interested in. Listened to the same bands, liked the same sports, everything. The whole car ride there was nothing but chatter. I liked how he could keep a conversation going. I had gone out with so many guys who would just sit there and didn't say one word the entire night. When we got there I was quiet impressed. It was pretty fancy. Inside was even better. There was a huge chandelier in the foyer, it was dimmed and the waitresses wore tight fancy black dresses. We had a perfect seat with a view of the ocean. I was in awe. He really didn't have to take me here. It was probably so expensive. After the main course came the hostess who brought us to our table was bringing in another couple a couple tables a head of us. I didn't get a good view at who it was until they sat down. It was Danny and some other girl, not Lindsey. Guess he was back to his old charmish ways. I was just going to ignore it, Austin and I were having a great time but when Danny and this girl started making out at the table, it crossed the line. I could strangle that girl. She was petite, blonde haired and blue eyed. She wore a tight dress that was low cut, slut. I thought to myself. "Austin." I whispered, lowering my head a little. He lowered his too. "What?" He whispered back. I told him everything about Danny and how he was sitting over there making out with some random girl I didn't know. Probably some random girl he didn't know either. "This will be good." Austin laughed. He took my hand and led me over to his seat. I sat on his lap in bridal position and he started kissing me. My lips , my cheek and even down my neck. When I looked over I could see Danny's face turning beat red. I laughed, take that. "Let's go home babe." He said it loud enough so Danny could here. I almost choked, nice one Austin. Austin left money on the table and we left the restaurant hand in hand. When we reached the restaurant door I could see Danny fuming and coming straight for us. "He's coming!' I cried. Austin and I took off running through the parking lot. I tripped and my heel broke. "Shit!" I cried. "How much were those shoes?" Austin questioned. "Not too much..." I started to say but he cut me off. "Then forget it." He picked me up bridal style and ran to the car put me in the passenger seat then hopped into the front. We were laughing hysterically and out of breath. "Oh m-my g-oo-od!" I managed to make out. We looked back and Danny was outside the front doors looking around, probably looking for us which made us laugh even more. After we laughed for a good ten minutes Austin began to drive me back home.
"I had a really good time tonight." Austin said. He was really really cute. Especially with the moonlight glistening off his perfectly tanned skin. "Me too." He stepped closer to me and cupped my chin in his hands. He planted a sweet and soft kiss on my lips then let go, obviously not wanting to push me too far. His kiss was nice but it compared nothing to Danny's. Why was I still thinking about him? I didn't care about him anymore, did I?
