*7 years later*
"Daddy!" My little girl yelled running up to me after her first day of kindergarden.
"Paige!" I yelled back as she jumped into my arms. "How was your first day of school baby?" I asked as i buckled her into the backseat.
"Weally good! I made lots of new fweinds!" She ranted as I got into the front seat and drove back home.
After Maci died I met one of her close friends, Kayla, at her funeral. I guess they had kinda drifted apart after Maci went to the first Magcon. Anyways we started talking and I ended up really liking her. After about three months we decided to try dating and see if it would work. I still missed Maci more than anything, but Kayla helped take some of the pain away and a year later we got married. Nine months after our wedding day our daughter was born. We decided to name her Paige Rose Wilkinson. We named her Paige because it was Maci's middle name and it just felt right. I still miss her everyday but I'm becoming better and better at dealing with it everyday.
"Hey daddy?" Paige asked from the backseat.
"Yea princess?" I asked, looking at her in the rearview mirror.
"Can we go visit aunty Maci? Plaese?" She asked. Hope in her eyes.
"Yea sure baby, but we gotta stop and get some flowers first." Her face lit up and a big smile spread across her face. Even though she had never met Maci, me and Kayla were always telling here and showing her pictures of her aunt Maci. We didn't actually ever tell her what had happened to her until a couple months ago and she actually took it really well for a 5 year old.
We pulled up to the graveyard and I got Paige out of her seat and held one of her hands, while she held the flowers in her other hand. We walked through the cemetary in silence. As soon as we got to the all too familiar headstone, Paige put the flowers down on the grave and sat down on her knees.
"Hi aunt Maci." She began. "Guess what? I started kindergarden today! It was so fun and I made so many new friends. Even though I never met you, you're still my favorite aunty. I made daddy bring me here today because I wanted to tell you about everything. I know daddy and mommy miss you. They always talk about you and we have so many pistures. I just wish that I could have met you." She finished and just sat there looking down at her hands.
I never thought I'd have to go through losing the girl I love. In the process I also found another amazing girl and now I have the most amazing little girl. She's so grown up for her age and she understands the world around her more that some adults.
"You ready to go daddy?" Paige asked grabbing my hand.
"Yea."
"Don't you wanna talk to aunty Maci." She asked me.
"I talk to her everyday baby girl." I smiled down at her.
"I really wish I could have met her." She smiled up at me.
"You will one day Princess. You will one day." I smiled slightly.
I fell in love at a young age and it was the best feeling ever. Then I lost her and my world fell apart. I met Kayla and had a beautiful baby girl and I couldn't be happier. She reminds me of Maci so much, it's unbelievable. God took Maci away from me, but he gave me my beautiful baby girl.
Maci Paige Lockwood in return for Paige Rose Wilkinson.
