Chapter 16
Ally's POV
The weekend finally arrives and I don't have to deal with the awkward tension being with Aaron AND Chase anymore. I inhale the recognizable scent of Noelle and her home. I find myself at Noelle's house right now, furiously petting her adorable Golden Retriever/German Shepard puppy, named Slush.
"I think Chase still has feelings for you." Noelle says, coming back with chips in her hand.
"Why would you think that? You barely know the guy." I say taking a chip.
She shrugs and says, "It's obvious."
I start to feel all weirded out. I thought he would move on.
"Stop daydreaming and watch the movie with me!" Noelle interrupts my thoughts.
We're watching White Chicks, one of the funniest movies ever, and I've seen it a million times, so I didn't really want to watch it again. About 10 minutes into the movie I get a text.
[Hey. You want to hang out today? ;) -Chase]
[Sure. Pick me up at Noelle's please. -Ally]
In about ten minutes, a car pulls up to Noelle's driveway.
"Wow! He likes you so much, he stalks where you are and comes for you." Noelle says, laughing.
I roll my eyes and say, "It's called texting, genius."
"I see you'd rather hang out with him then me." Noelle says, sounding sad and sarcastic at the same time. From outside Chase honks his car horn and I get my stuff and give Noelle a hug before heading out.
"Bye! See you later." I call to her.
"Whatever loser." She calls back.
I open the door to Chase's car and greet him.
"Hey. New car?"
"Yup, this baby is new." He replies, arm hung over the passenger chair.
"So where are you taking me?" I ask as he pulls out of Noelle's driveway.
"Where do you want to go?"
"Hmm how about the movies? There's a new movie starring Tom Cruise and I really want to see it."
"Alright we'll go to the movies."
I'm not sure if this is right. Hanging out with Chase without informing Aaron. It's just a friendly hangout, there can't be any harm to it.
Aaron can't tell me who I can or can't hang out with. I have no feelings for Chase and I'm not planning on it.
Once we get to the movie theater parking lot, Chase rushes out of his seat to open the door for me.
"Hey isn't this what people do when they're on a date?" I ask.
"Yeah I guess..." He says, smiling mischievously.
"We're not on a date. We are having a friendly hangout." I say, walking toward the ticket booth.
I was pulling money out of my pocket to pay for my ticket until Chase comes and pays the cashier for me.
"Why did you do that?" I say, not quite meaning to say it out loud.
"I'm being friendly." Chase says as he walks and open the door for me to enter.
I am feeling very weirded out right now. I feel like I'm 'cheating' on Aaron but I'm not... I don't think Aaron would like this if he finds out. Ehh, what he doesn't know won't kill him.
I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie and I don't care who I see it with, I just really want to see it.
"Do you want anything to eat?" Chase asks.
"Uhh sure. Let me pay this time."
"NOOO, you are not paying on this date." He proclaims, winking.
"It's not a date Chase. You're so annoying!"
I say, sarcastically but meaning it just a little.
"Excuse me I am totally NOT annoying." He says, winking as he walks away to buy popcorn.
I stand awkwardly to the side waiting for him to buy.
"ALLY!?!" A familiar voice calls.
I turn around and my eyes widen and my jaws drops. I'm screwed.
It was Farrah and Natalie. I really didn't expect to see anyone I know here. Great, if they see Chase and I together, they're going to assume I'm cheating on Aaron.
"Hey, who are you with?" Natalie asks.
Before I can answer, Chase comes back with our popcorn.
"Hey." He says.
I let out a deep sigh. Out of all days they could have gone to the movies, they decide to go today!
Farrah and Natalie turn and look at me with smirks on their faces.
"We're just having a friendly hangout." I say.
"Mhmm." Farrah says.
"WHAT?!? I mean it... It's just a friendly hangout."
Natalie comes closer to me and quietly whispers? "Does Aaron know about this?" I get a guilty feeling in my gut.
"No." I whisper back. She backs away with a flabbergasted look.
"Sooooo... Ally we have to go now... Our movie is starting." Chase says, taking a popcorn to eat. I say bye to Farrah and Natalie as they stand there frozen on the spot.
"Why did they look so shocked?" Chase asks.
"Don't worry about it." I say. He just shrugs.
Once we got in the movie theater, my phone buzzes multiple times. I check to find that I'm in a group chat with Farrah and Natalie. Great.
[Are you cheating on Aaron? -Farrah]
[Why didn't you tell Aaron about your 'friendly hangout'? -Natalie]
[Guys calm down, Chase and I are just friends I promise you. He's a a boy, and just a friend. Pretend that he's a girl and stop freaking out. Don't tell Aaron. Please. I'll tell him myself. -Ally]
[Alright -Farrah and Natalie]
"Put your phone away the movie is starting." Chase says, playfully taking my phone.
The movie plays, and we stay silent the whole time.
