Chapter 16: Of all the wolves in the world; I get stuck with an inner unicorn.
-Clinton’s POV-
I was still going through utter shock as I stared blindly at the elegant white wolf in front of me.
Like a deep stab, an attraction gripped at the bottom of my silent heart. I suddenly wanted, needed, to be with this beautiful creature.
“Mate,” My wolf howled internally, crouching down into a pouncing position, “I want our mate.”
I ignored him, still trying to grasps with this new situation.
My mate was the White Lycan.
Drake, Dace, and the rest of the audience seemed as shocked as I was. We were too stunned to make any coherent movement, simply staring at the gorgeous white creature that gazed back at us.
Daire... Or should I say her and her wolf seemed uncomfortable by the sudden attention for she growled, and let’s just say my own wolf was irrational enough to be aroused by even that, in defence and took a step back.
That one back away seemed to snap all of us out of that thick trace.
“Daire-” I moved forward, a little hesitantly however, as though I were taming a wild wolf.
Well then again, inaccurately, I was.
That simply gesture seemed to catch her off guard for the wolf’s snout curved up into a snarl of defence. Her hind legs crouched forwards while her ears flattened.
The only thing I saw was a flash of lightning white, and with that, she was gone.
My wolf and I hated that she was running away from us.
My skin started to prickle as I found my wolf surfacing, but a firm hand placed itself on my shoulder. I turned, growling.
Alpha St Claire stood there. His blue eyes were flashing an electric azure, ranging from a colour between that and black.
“Give her time,” He ordered me, though there was unease laced in his voice, “She’s still getting used to the feel of her wolf. We’re scaring her.”
I gritted my teeth, knowing he was right but hating that fact.
“I’m her mate,” I told him finally.
And with that, I tore into my black wolf and broke into a surging run.
-Daire’s POV-
I was going through an inner session of panic turmoil.
And you couldn’t blame me.
I was a freaking huge furry animal.
My legs.. I mean paws pounded gracefully against the forest floor as I focused everything I had on running. I was still clumsy though, my feet tripped a little from beneath me as I weaved through trees and branches.
Calm down, a quiet voice said in my head.
I almost smacked into a tree trunk.
Was that my wolf?
No, I’m your inner unicorn, the same voice replayed sarcastically. It left echoes rolling off the surfaces of my mind, which was a little strange.
