Song By Alex & Sierra
~
Can't help wondering what you're thinking, wherever you are."
Ariana couldn't help but let her thoughts wonder over to the boy she deeply fell in love with, but could never actually admit it. Her curiousness led her over to the thoughts of what he was doing right now. Was he looking out the window like she was right now? Was he staring at the moon just like she was? Was he with some other girl, some girl that could make him happy like she couldn't? Was he thinking about her? The answer is yes--actually a lot for that matter. But he would never tell her that.
"Careless drinking, to cover these cars."
She felt weak, letting herself let loose to get her mind off of him. She just wanted to be free, to not have to worry or cry about how he would never notice her. So every chance she had, she would go out with her other friends and party the night out, her mind going blank and completely forgetting everything in an instance.
"You and me we're bumper cars, the more I try to get to you, the more we crash apart."
She tried so hard just to be with him, but nothing never happened at the end--much too her disappointment. She wanted to kiss his sweet lips, hold his much larger hands, tell him how much he meant with him at night while they cuddled, fall asleep in each other's arms, but she knew that it would never happen. She knew how life works. Life is unfair most of the time, and for her, she never got what she wanted; and to the look of it, she would never get what she wanted.
"Round and round we chase the sparks, but all that seems to lead to is a pile of broken hearts."
Ariana and Harry were good friends, but that was the problem. Sure, they have good times together, but it's always with a whole group of friends. When she does have the chance to be with him alone, she never gets to tell him, at the end of the day she just feels broken. She found someone who is everything to her, but he would never feel the same way--at least that's what she thought. She was always expecting for something to happen between them, but thanks to her high expectations, the pain and disappointment just doubled over. So, she just sat in her living room, everyday, crying her chocolate brown eyes out as her heart broke each time he would post a picture of him with a new girl, or text her what he would wear for his date.
"This was suppose to be fun. This was supposed to be the one."
All her life, she waited for the day she found the perfect one. But now, she wishes she never would have, because of all the fun she dreamed of having, her deep feelings would only cause pain. She just didn't want to feel like this anymore, little did she know it would surprise her at the end.
"Maybe we stayed too long. Maybe we played all wrong."
She wanted to leave. She wanted to just forget about it all. She just wanted to drift off to some place that she was happy. She knew it could never happen though. He already caused her so much pain, and she couldn't take it anymore. She wanted to be good enough for him, good enough that he would fall the same way for her and eventually confess his feelings for her. Oh, how a girl can dream.
"You and me were bumper cars, the more I try to get to you, the more we crash apart."
When she finally gave up, here he came asking her to speak privately. That's where he told her how in love he was with her, how crazy he was about her. Everything she wanted to hear, was finally being said by him, everything she ever dream of, was coming true. But--it was already too late. She kept a blank face, tired of everything he caused upon her. She managed to already get over it, and here he was, desperate as ever to know she loves him back. But he was already too late, as both of them were sat in a fancy couch, both in formal wear, while he waited to marry someone that wasn't her. How could he possibly tell her after all these years, especially on his wedding day? She wasn't going to fall again, she was far gone, and as she did everything she could to stay strong, she stood up and walked out that door, mumbling the words barely audible for him to hear,"You're too late."
And when he was standing in the altar, waiting for a woman who he thought he loved, he barely realized how much a fool he actually was. But since he had no plan now, the disappointment she felt every single day since they were 18, now 24, he felt right at the moment.
And as he slipped on the ring that would seal their marriage, with Ariana carefully watching from her seat, she silently stood up, quickly running out of the church. She couldn't control her loud sobs that escaped her lips as she clutched her stomach m, her other hand over her mouth. Every piece of her finally was crumbling, and she felt so useless. With nobody in sight, she let herself go, as she fell to her knees and her eyes dropping tears every second.
And after a few more minutes, she heard quick footsteps, hands pulling her up and her body being crushed into someone's chest. The familiar scent made her cry even harder.
"W-what are you doing?" She barely asked, voice cracking at her desperate state.
"Why are you crying?" He frantically asked, holding her and ignoring her question.
"Because you're married now!" She pushed herself away from him, furiously wiping her tears away.
"So? You were the one who rejected me! I just spilled out everything I couldn't all these years, and when I finally do you walk away from me like a heartless person!"
"Are you kidding me right now?! Do you know just how much I really loved you!? For god's sake, I cried every night because I knew you would never feel the same way. And when you finally realize you do, it's your fucking wedding! You're the heartless person here, while I broke down every night on the floor, you were out with some random chick!"
He was left speechless, feeling stupid over how he never realized how she felt.
"Harry?" Both of them turned their heads to face the bride, standing there with no clue of what was happening.
"I'll be right there, honey."
"But the guests are waiting to take pictures."
"Alright, wouldn't want them waiting any longer."
He sighed, making her smile as he obeyed and turned around as she went back in.
"Ariana..."
"Go."
"But-"
"I said, go!"
"You can't just tell me to leave right now!"
"Harry, Alexa is my best friend! I'm not going to do this to her, now go show her how much you love her! You guys are married now, so just forget about me and pretend this never happened." He stood there, not knowing what to say as she turned around, but not before looking him in the eye and saying,"I'm over you."
And that's when she walked away for good, not knowing where to go, but just letting the wind take her away.
After all these years, she was finally over him.
