Looking out the window, her eyes lower down back onto her curtains, hoping someday it would just stop. That he would just stop.
The same boy who lived next door had always done his little routine on her front steps for a whole year now. She thought after the first time of no response that he would just stop and not bother anymore, but there he was, with the same flowers and same bright smile and eyes to match with it on the same day as every week.
She groaned, turning around on her sofa, clutching onto the blanket tighter to her body. The whole house was freezing and she had nothing but a thin blanket covering her body at the moment. Her eyes remained closed for the most part, but every time the soft knocks of the male waiting outside hit, her eyes would occasionally drift open.
When she thought he had finally left for the day, she settled back into the comforts of her couch. All she could hear in the big house was the soft breathing, her chest going up and down as she stared at the ceiling above her.
The familiar feeling of emptiness settled deep within her chest, and she couldn't do anything except wait until the unsettling feeling passed so she could carry on with her dull day. Once it did, she let out a relief and rubbed at her face, her frail hands tying her hair into a low ponytail.
Getting up from her spot, she felt like she was programmed to stand up, not wanting to do anything but lay down and wait for death.
If life really is just a simulation, could you hurry up and make my sim receive a visit from the grim reaper or something already?
She scoffed, thinking her controller was just too cruel to make her have to wake up another day.
Making her way to the entrance, she opened the door to retrieve the flowers he always left, along with the note that he would leave attached with a ribbon, describing another detail of hers that he's missed seeing.
She wasn't always secluded like she now is, in fact people could hear her laughter from a mile away, but after the plane ride that her family had went on had turned into another tragedy for the news, she couldn't even blink a smile with her eyes. The dark circles made her face look sunken, along with the cheekbones that protruded due to her lack of an appetite since then. If she smiled at this point, she'd probably look terrifying.
Turning the knob, she looked down to the floor—expecting to see the package laid neatly onto the mat, but instead they were stuck on converse.
What in the hell?
Glancing up, she was surprised, but not too surprised, to see the small smile playing on the male that tried so hard to get her attention.
"I knew you'd fall for that." He chuckled, never letting his eyes falter from her own gaze.
She narrowed her eyes up at him, hating that she had to crane her neck up so much just to see his face. Her hand followed her sourness by moving to shut the door, but a hand quickly stopped it from closing all the way.
"Let go." She murmured, not having the energy or strength to try to fight him with the door.
"I've finally got to see you again. Please, just let me talk." She ignored his request, internally rolling her eyes at his attempt to coax her with his gentle tone.
"I'll call the police."
"I can explain myself to them perfectly fine."
"Leaving me flowers with a note everyday isn't going to make them coo, they didn't come here to hear your failed attempts."
"It isn't exactly a crime, so I guess it'd be useless either way." Her head dropped, knowing he was too clever for her bluffing.
"If I let you in this one time, will you stop with the daily visits?" She held the doorknob tightly in her hand, talking towards the floor as she was so close to giving in already.
