"Aye, Cassidy took up your offer for the hook up tonight."
I rolled my eyes at the group of boys laughing hysterically in front of me, making me want to push the desks so they would fall.
"I don't even know who she is. How 'bout you shut the fuck up about all the rumors you make about me being this fucker and look in the mirror." I layed back on my seat, my arms crossed against my chest.
I smirked once their laughter died down and they got off the desks, sitting down once the teacher started to speak after the bell rang.
"Alright class, you know the drill. Open your books to the page number on the board." He walked back to his desk, getting his glasses and walking back to his original spot in front of the class.
"Alright, who can tell me who Quetzalcoatl is?"
"Yes, Eli?"
"He was the main Meso-American God for the Aztecs, he was adopted by the Toltecs because his mother died at childbirth."
"Good, does anyone have anything to add to that?"
"Yes, Marina?"
"He was a man of knowledge and wisdom, and one day he got really drunk and he believed he sinned so he withdraws his power because he felt as if he was no longer worthy of it."
And after that I zoomed out, finding interest in the doodles on my paper.

"Now, who is Huitzilopochtli?"
"He was the God of the sun and war. He was the one who led the Mexicas to the valley of Mexico, in which they created an agriculture based society."
"Yes, Jacob?"
"His symbol was the hummingbird, and the Mexica sacrificed people to him so in return, they would have success in the war, like the Flowery Wars."
"Exactly, now. He also was-"
Mr. Rofer was interrupted by a knock at the door.
A girl with light brown hair and a small frame walked through the open door, a pink slip in her hands.
"Oh, I'm really sorry that I interrupted. I-I just couldn't find the right-"
"Don't sweat it kid. You must be their new student, and it must be really difficult to find a classroom in this big old school. It's normal and understanding that you're late, so don't worry about it." He smiled at her, taking the slip from her hands and quickly signing it, handing it back to her and directing her to take a seat.
"What's your name, kid?"
"Ariana." She smiled and turned back around.
She took a seat right in the middle of the class, her head bowing down as the people's eyes-including mine-observed her.
After a few minutes, the students' attention were back on the teacher. However, my eyes stayed on her during the whole period.
I observed how her eyes would switch gaze on every little detail of the room, how she would tuck back the hair that fell in front of her face, how she would nervously fumble with her fingers under the desk as the girl next to her tried to make conversation with her.
At the end of the class, when there was about 5 minutes left of the period, Mr. Rofer had a student pass out little piece of paper and told us to right down where we would prefer to sit for the rest of the school year.
"Please don't pick somewhere next to your friend or someone you know, pick a place or suggest someone you know will not be a bother."
I smiled as I wrote down her name.
