"Hey."

"Hey." Max says.

"Have you heard from Emily?" I ask

"Have you heard from Emily?" I ask.

"Yeah. She...isn't herself. I think she's having problems with her parents."

"Doesn't surprise me. With the way her parents are, shit's gotta be hitting the fan." I say.

"Have you tried talking to her about these problems?" Max asks.

"She won't let me. "

"Is she still going to the party tonight?" I ask.

"Yeah."

"Well maybe it isn't so bad, you know? Maybe nothing super wild or bad will happen. Worse comes to worse, she wakes up with a hangover tomorrow." Max says.

"Why are we so worried? Isn't this what normal teenagers do? Go to parties and get drunk and stuff?" I ask.

"Yeah, but I'm an athlete and I can't risk jeopardizing my performance with that stuff." Jack says, "And anyway, you're the one that lives in the devil house and wears all black stuff and is the daughter of the town freak. Aren't you supposed to be the bad one?"
