"Okay so now it's another quarter note and two half notes." The smooth yet ever so clear voice of my father calmly explains. As my hands dance across the piano tiles that lie in front of me I lightly tap onto the notes I believe are correct. "Good." He encourages sitting to my left on the bench. Going over what I've learned so far he listened intently to the notes I choose in search for any errors he can correct me on. As I hit the last three notes I learned today I look over my shoulder to him seeing if he has anything to say. Instead of his usual thinking face which signals that I may have made a mistake a small smirk is placed on his lips causing his eyes to hold a ray of joy inside them.
Before he has a chance to say anything Carlisle makes his way swiftly through the room with his medical uniform still on. "Sometime soon she's going to get better then you Edward." He insists patting my head in the process causing a tug on my lips to transform itself into a small, but noticeable, smile. "I see that." Dad nods along to his statement as not so for in the distance I hear Nessie's laughter followed by the one of her imprint. I obviously don't remember Seth imprinting on her seeing that we're twins and I was just born moments before the whole incident took place. Nobody talks much about it anymore but I remember them saying something about a Jacob character who used to be close with my mom. He is, or was in Seth's pack but hasn't really communicated with my parents since their wedding.
As the two pile through the door downstairs the house becomes less peaceful then it had been just a few moments ago. While the love struck couple quickly descend up the stairs all eyes are on them. Even though we're twins, Nessie and I are anything but identical. She has dad's hair color and I have mom's; while our eyes are both brown mine are a golden shade and hers are more like chocolate. Then there are the personality differences between the two of us. When we were little she was the shy one and I was known as the outgoing kid. Maybe my sarcasm got the best of me at a young age, who knows? Whatever it is in many ways you wouldn't expect were related, let alone twins. That is unless the paleness of our skin tones and similar jaw structures give it away first.
"Hey Cas." Seth's usual energetic voice says holding out his fist as I give him our ever so famous fist pound exchange. Don't get me wrong, I love Seth. I'll never be able to repay him for saving our asses when we were first born. His choice or not, if he hadn't imprinted on my sister we could've died that night. Plus there's really nothing to hate about the kid, he's sweet, seemingly innocent of everything and anything and makes Nessie happier then ever. But I can't help but feel a pang of jealously when I see them together. How happy they are and how well they understand one another. It's hard to think I'll ever have anything even close to that.
Luckily dad can't read my mind, picked up that trait from mom too but he can read Nessie's which kind of sucks for her. Guess I do have that one advantage in our situation.
