A/N - It's my birthday today and it's absolutely boiling. I wanted to write a short fic about the struggles of having an summer birthday.
Also, if your birthday isn't in the summer then use your *imagination*.It was your birthday, your first birthday at the bunker. The sun was blazing in the sky and there wasn't a cloud to be seen.
Typical.
You despised summer, it was too dry and the heat made it almost impossible to hunt without passing out. You longed for the days in winter when you could play in the snow all day. Sure it was cold, but that's where hot chocolate and layers of blankets came in.
So as you rolled out of bed and saw the giant puddle of sweat you had left on the covers, you weren't exactly thrilled.
"Y/N, get your ass out here so we can make you breakfast." Dean's deep voice echoed through your door.
You groaned a response and trudged to the shower, blasting yourself with cold, refreshing water. Once you were sure all the gross stickiness was gone, you got dressed in a simple outfit of shorts and a crop top - not bothering to dry yourself in hopes of it cooling you down further - and padded out of the door and into the kitchen.
Sam and Dean were standing with their backs to you, mumbling insults to one another as they worked away over a mixing bowl and the stove.
"Guys?" You call anxiously, the heat radiating off of the oven and straight to you.
They spun around and beamed at you, pulling you in for bear hugs as they both wished you a happy birthday. They were both sweaty and covered in what seemed to be cake mix.
"We wanted to bake you a cake but someone, not saying who, splashed it everywhere with the whisk." Dean explained.
"Dean, that was you." Sam glared at his older brother.
"That's why I didn't say who."
You laughed and rolled your eyes, helping them finish baking the cake even though you could feel the heat if the oven scorching your face.
Whilst you were waiting for it to cook, the boys fed you a breakfast consisting of pancakes (shop-bought ones that go in the toaster because one baking incident was enough), French toast and chunks of fruit.
Finally, the cake came out of the oven and Sam scrawled a messy 'Happy Birthday Y/N' on top with some icing he had found at the back of the food cupboard. The cake was under-cooked in the middle and burnt around the edges, but still delicious.
"Where's Cas?" You ask after licking your fingers clean.
"He's a little busy right now, he'll be here later." Dean said through a mouthful of cake.
"Okay. I'm going to take another shower before he turns up, this heat is unbearable." You sigh, flapping your hands in front of your face in an effort to fan yourself.
"Have fun, take your time." Dean smirked, sharing a look with Sam.
"We'll give you your presents once your out." The younger brother remarked, prompting you to scuttle off to the shower.

After dowsing yourself in deodorant and getting dressed in a less sweaty outfit of a bikini top, one of Sam's giant shirts and short shorts, you walked into the library.
The brothers smiled at you as you sat opposite them. After they had given you your gifts of a new hand gun, a leather jacket and some plaid shirts, you were taken outside and into the small field next to the bunker.
