Request: Can you do a Sam imagine where you organise a firework display for him on November 5th and it's super fluffy? Thanks!
A/N - Look guys, my first Sam fic! It's short and crappy but they'll get better, I promise. I decided to go with July 4th instead of November 5th since the Winchesters are American.
Sam was anything but normal.
He dreamed of a normal life with you, maybe finally marrying you some day and starting a family. But when you're a hunter, life gets in the way.
On those rare days off, you and Sam liked to laze around the bunker together, maybe watch a movie or read a book that didn't explain how to kill something. Dean would berate you both, exclaiming that you should be training or finding a new hunt, before swiftly giving up and joining you in Sam's room to watch Game Of Thrones.
~~~~~~~~
July 4th rolled round sooner than you had all expected, a holiday you hardly ever got to celebrate. A little upset you couldn't spend the day alone with Sam, you got to searching the Internet for the latest sketchy news report, hoping there was a case not too far from the bunker.
Out of nowhere, Cas popped up with a solemn "hello", making you shriek.
"My apologies, Y/N," he said awkwardly, a little startled at your reaction. "I didn't mean to scare you."
You wave him off, your heart rate slowing down to normal. "Don't worry, no harm done. Is there something you need?"
"Yes actually," he answers with a little more enthusiasm. "Dean requested I talked to you about tonight, there is a case for him in the next town over and he expressed great interest in it. He said to tell you 'dibs'? I'm not quite sure what that means but he was sure you'd know."
"Son of a bitch," you muttered. "I don't suppose it's the super easy cursed object that needs burning, is it?" You gestured towards the laptop on the desk.
"That is the one."
"Fuck!" You yell, slamming the laptop shut and crossing your arms in defeat. "I'm stuck here doing nothing then."
"I thought that's what you wanted, numb nuts." Dean remarked as he swaggered into the library.
"You," Dean's eyes widened a bit as you stood up and stalked towards him, finger pointing at him relentlessly. "You stole my case. You know how much holidays suck for us! Sam and I can't exactly act normal on a day like this and now you've taken the only hunt for miles."
Dean put his hand up in mock defence, giving Cas a subtle nod. The sound of flapping wings signalled to you he had left.
"Sweetheart, listen-"
"Don't call me sweetheart."
"Sweetheart, listen, I know you want nothing more than to take Sam out for a fourth of July celebration shag underneath the fireworks. So what's stopping you?"
You stared up at him with your mouth agape.
"I mean, technically there was nothing stopping you before. The whole schedule for today was wide open, you're the one that was searching for hunts." Dean elaborated. "Now, I've bagged the only hunt there is, meaning you can sleep easy knowing that someone is taking care of it. Why not take Sam out and act like a normal couple for once?"
"I-I- what?"
Dean grinned and gestured to something over your shoulder, when you turned around Cas was standing there with mud on his pant legs and trenchcoat sleeves.
"Where have you been?" You ask sceptically.
Cas held out his hand, beckoning you to take it.
"Come with me."
~~~~~~~~
"Y/N, where are we going?" Sam asked with a small laugh.
"It's a surprise." You answer cheekily, squeezing his hand as you led him further into the forest.
"Aren't you worried people will wonder what we're doing in the woods in the middle of the night?"
"Don't worry, moose are pretty common around these parts."
"Har-dee-har," Sam huffed sarcastically. "Can I at least take the blindfold off?"
"No, we're almost there anyway."
Sam smiles softly and lets you drag him through the darkness, occasionally hitting his head on branches that you failed to spot. Finally, you stopped walking and released him from your hold.
"Blindfold off, big guy." You tell him.
He fiddled with the knot at the back of his head and pulled the material from his face, blinking slightly and peering around the moonlit clearing you were currently standing in.
"What is this?" He asks with a puzzled smile pulling at the corners of his mouth.
"Your surprise!" You cry, throwing your hands up.
"Wha-?" Sam started, but before he could finish you had scampered off to a suspicious pile of boxes and crouched next to them in such a fashion, it obscured his view.
The next thing he knew, you had ran back over to him and wrapped his arms around your frame, your back to him and your eyes on the sky.
There was a whoosh and then a burst of red just over the treetops. Sam looked down at you, his eyes wide and you grinned up at him proudly. Several more fireworks went off above you and Sam rested his chin on the top of your head as you watched them in silence.
"This is amazing," Sam said after a while. "How did you set this up?"
"Cas and Dean helped," you admitted. "They knew I wanted to spend today with you and they planned this out for us."
"It's beautiful," Sam murmured into your hair. "Thank you for this."
You didn't reply, your face locked into a grin as each burst of colour lit the clearing up for a split second.
"I love you, Y/N." Sam whispered, gently tipping your head back and kissing your lips as fireworks exploded around you.
