"Daddy!"

"Daddy wake up!"

"Please wake up."

"Daddy?"

"...Daddy...?"

~~~~~~
You woke up with a start, the sheets damp with sweat. Trying to calm your breathing, you reached over for the sleeping pills on the bedside counter. Popping five in your mouth, you washed them down with a large swig of whiskey straight from the bottle.
"Damn nightmares." You murmured. Although you knew you were lying to yourself. It was only ever one nightmare, the same one that you'd had since you were ten.
Collapsing back into the dirty motel pillows, you closed your eyes and tried to get a few more hours of sleep before the sun came up.
~~~~~~

Six o'clock came around too soon and it took all of your strength to drag yourself out of the covers and into the bathroom.

You grimaced when you saw your reflection in the mirror. Your hair was greasy and sticking up in weird angles, there were black circles around your eyes and drool was dried around your cheeks and chin.

After a cold shower, a cup of coffee and ten minutes taming your hair, you were ready to head out again.

Checking your phone, you sighed when you saw at least ten missed calls and about three dozen messages. Pressing re-dial, you held your phone up to your ear and braced yourself for the immeasurable energy that your friend Garth possessed.

"Y/N! Thanks for calling me back, I've been trying to get a hold of you for the last three hours. Listen, there's some amateur hunters chasing down a small pack of vampires in Phoenix and they just can't seem to get the job done. If you're nearby could you help them out? Or if you're further West then there's a more experienced hunter that just needs a little help with a coven of witches in Pasadena? You know I wouldn't call if it wasn't important - I understand you prefer to work alone - but everyone else is just and I can't go myself because Betty-"

"Garth, I hate to break it to you but I'm already in the middle of something. Can't you get your Winchester buddies to take care of it?" You interrupted. He was a close friend of yours, but boy did he talk a lot.

"They're off the grid. Last time I checked they were in South Dakota. Look, Y/N... I wouldn't ask if I wasn't desperate. You're the best hunter there is, people are bound to ask for your help. Just this once, could you do this for me?"

You sigh and pinch the bridge of your nose in guilt. "I'm on my way to South Dakota myself. I'll finish my mission and then I'll shoot down to Arizona. If I manage to track down the Winchesters then I'll send them your way."

"Thanks Y/N, you're the best." Garth said happily.

"And don't you forget it." You smiled, hanging up and throwing your phone into your bag.

Shoving your feet into your black combat boots, you threw your duffel over your shoulder and walked towards your red 1970 Dodge Charger.

"This is gonna be a long day." You groaned, relaxing into the upholstery as the car roared to life.

A few hours later, you found yourself just outside Sioux Falls. It didn't take long to find what you had been searching for: an article in the paper about missing civilians turning up dead. Parking your car in an alley behind an abandoned school, you opened the trunk and grabbed your pistol holder, sliding your two guns into the leather pouches on either hip. You went to lock the car before tucking a dagger into your belt for extra measure.
