Based on textpost above.

I sighed deeply as I looked out of the window and at the people passing by. They all seem to come in pairs like Noah's freaking Arc. But like always, I found myself single and friendless. Typical.

It's not like I haven't tried making friends or anything, oh no. It's just all the blind dates I've been on, all the social clubs I've been to have proved to be nothing short of... disappointing.

So I chose to spend my time more constructively. I learnt three different languages, I redecorated my house, I read almost every single book in the library. But I knew that nothing would ever fill the void.

So when the library opened a new section titled 'Occult and Supernatural', I barely even cared. Well, not at first anyway. But after a few more fruitless attempts at making friends (turns out Mummy and Me classes only let you in if you have a baby), I gave in and trudged back to the library.

The new section was empty as far as I could see, so I took advantage of that and took shelter behind the high bookshelves. Picking up a few random books to take home, I was ready to leave. But something made me turn back around to the shelf, and there, right in front of me, was a thick leather-bound book with strange symbols etched on it. Not caring about the other books anymore, I dropped them to the floor and snatched the large book in my hands. Happy with my findings, I handed the book over to the librarian and waited for her to scan it.

"Back again, are we, Y/N?" She asked with a bored expression.

"Oh Janice, don't act like you're not happy to see me." I chirped brightly.

Her expression didn't change.

"Please just go." She told me.

I dropped my gaze and nodded before taking the book and trudging out of the library.

Back home I changed into my preferred outfit of sweatpants and a large sweater before curling up on my armchair with a mug of hot cocoa and my new reading material.

Opening up the book, the first thing I noticed was that it was entirely hand-written. The black ink swirled across the yellowing pages almost hypnotically and I delved in.

It was all rather ridiculous. One page talked about salt and how it had the ability to stop ghosts in their tracks and burn a demon's flesh. Bullshit, right? Remind me to grab the condiment shaker in the event of an apocalypse.

As I flicked through, not really reading it, one page happened to catch my eye. On it there was a large pattern with labels pointing at different parts, describing what they were. It looked like a pentagram but it had extra details around the edges and a much more elaborate design.

"HOW TO SUMMON SATAN"

A small shudder ran down my spine as I read the title. I let out a nervous titter at the absurdity of the idea. How people could believe in this kind of crap was beyond me.

My mind wandered back to a series of books I had read a few months back about two brothers that kicked serious ghost butt. They did all this ritual stuff with crossroad demons all the time. It would be pretty cool to reenact a few scenes from the books.

Deciding to make the most of yet another lonesome night and a credit card that inherited all my family's fortune, I rushed to the store to buy the candles, herbs and oils needed to perform the ceremony.

Two hours later, I was ready to begin. I chanted the words written in the book ominously until I got to the last sentence.

"Maybe this is why I'm alone in a Saturday night," I thought to myself. "You're literally trying to summon the devil so you have someone to talk to."

Fuck it, what's the worst that could happen?

"Eos coram me!"

The whole world seemed to shake, glass shattered, there was a deafening high pitched squeal in my ears.

And then everything went black.
